Re: Touchback not working with USB-C display (Surface Hub 2S)
Thanks again for your feedback. Wireless display is not an option for latency/reactivity reasons. Anyway, I've tried launching hte Connect app manually - thanks for providing the link to instructions - but a Windows 11 PC do not support miracast, it has to be connected via a Cable as shown via the Win+K shortcut. USB-C for video IS supported, I use it - as well as hdmi cable - on my surface hub 3 with windows 11. However, it won't at the same time receive video and send/transmit USB devices inputs to the host PC for touchback/inkback support - although the device do appear in the host device manager and devices list, Touchscreen enabled surface hub etc. So I assume touchback support has to be removed from the windows documentation fro Surface Hub 3 / Win 11, otherwise this is really misleading to potential customers - on top of loosing peoples time for trying to make it work since it is advertised to be available.35Views0likes0CommentsRe: Touchback not working with USB-C display (Surface Hub 2S)
Thanks again for the reply. Yes I do use the admin account - auto-login to avoid overhead - but cannot find the Connect app anywhere. I can connect to external wireless display from the surface hub admin account, but what I want to do is the opposite - use the Hub as an external display, and more importantly, transmit touchback events from the Hub to the PC connected via HDMI/USB-C + USB-C. Indeed I do use the Change video source button on the right to switch to a the connected PC/laptop. Is there a way to install that Connect app back on the surface Hub with MTR? Thanks!55Views0likes2CommentsRe: Touchback not working with USB-C display (Surface Hub 2S)
cezarcretu Hi again, thanks a lot for the reply. MTR stands for "Microsoft Teams Room" experience, right? Indeed the OS version installed is Windows 11 IoT Enterprise. Can I disable MTR in any way to get the Connect app back? For example installing a new windows OS version, or Resetting/Repairing the OS? I've found this guide also pointing to the SurfaceHub Recovery & drivers that might be of interest, or more specifically Recovery from USB Drive but I'd love to get a confirmation before doing anything wrong - since this guide mentions only using Windows 11 IoT with MTR rather than Windows 10 Team 2022 Update. Teams cast or whiteboard is not adapted to our scenario. We need a very powerful PC to run a 3D experience app, for which the small integrated Iris Xe chipset GPU is not sufficient, hence the need for touchback/inkback. You also mentioned, since Connect app is not longer available with MTR experience, that I'll "need to switch to USB-C input to use the Surface Hub as a secondary monitor". How can I do that? Thanks again for the detailed replies. Best,263Views0likes4CommentsRe: Surface Hub 2s touch recognized but not working on external NUC PC
Installing these drivers on the Surface Hub won't solve this problem. I've come to the same conclusion after trying to troubleshoot Touchback not supported - although detected, drivers up-to-date etc - from a windows 11 23H2 host to 2 different a Surface Hub 3 with different USB-C/TB4 cables. But would love to get insight from microsoft tech provider, we're in Paris France TZ if your are still around cezarcretu ! Hello, Important linked thread which ended-up concluding Touchback is not supported for Surface Hub 3 85" here. Cross-posting from here. I've been trying to setup touchback/inkback support several times on a Surface Hub 3 85". I'm doing everything as told in the Connect Devices guide or this other useful guide (for the Hub 2S, but I ordered a Hub 3 which has just a more beefy compute cartridge) from a Windows 11 Pro laptop 23H2 build I've updated the drivers on the host PC, installed Surface Hub Replacement PC Drivers, that is connected to the Hub via the USB-C port below, on the compute cartridge, with either a USB-C standard cable or thunderbolt TB 4 cable. Display passes through correctly, device appears in device manager (HID compliant touchscreen etc), drivers were installed automatically and also updated with Snappy Driver Installer Origin SDIO. There is no button switch like on the older 1 hub to alternate between Guest/replacement mode and standard hub. I also tried the configuration where the display/AV was passing through HDMI/Display-port and additional usb-c cable connected for devices, but this is not supported either - was again detected as a display, which I de-activated to try to give priority to device passthrough. I've read several comments on internet like this one or this one which have faced the same problem, but no official statement from microsoft stating that Touchback is not supported on the Surface Hub 3 85". Would love some insights. Best regards, Jonathan208Views0likes0Comments
