Drivers to install Windows after wiping out partisions
I have two servers (an old physical server and a VM hosted by VMware Workstation) with 3 iSCSI disks each. A previous Linux installation was wiped out using Gparted from both servers. When I try to install Windows Server 2022 I can't select any drive to install Windows and I am requested to load a driver. Where can I find the driver to recognize the disks? What can I do with Gparted or any other tool to make the disks visible by Windows installer? By the way, I can install Linux on both servers without any problem. I apologize for the very basic question. I was involved in the Microsoft partnership of a company I worked for several years ago, but I see that a lot of things have evolved. Imagine a company that wants to become a Microsoft partner today, where should they start? What are the partnership levels and areas of specialization? What are the requirements for each level of partnership in terms of certifications, business, or otherwise? What are the benefits? Where can I find a table that explains all this in a concise way? I have 2 PS, both members of Workgroup. On one PC I must perform a complete logon each time I try to access my Azure account, including e-mail verification. On the second PC I can access my Azure account as soon as I open the browser. I usde Edge on both PCs. There is obvuously a difference, but I can't detect it. In other words, how can make my first PC access Azure without authentication each time? RegardsSolved572Views0likes2CommentsRecovery Partition size increase
I made some tests in my lab environment by upgrading a Windows 10 VM to Windows 11. I noticed that during the upgrade the size of the Recovery Partition increases, causing a change in the layout of Disk 0. This causes a problem with my backup application (Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows) that reports a change in the disk layout and performs a full backup instead of the usual incremental backup. I noticed the same problem on a physical Windows 10 PC. Is it a standard behavior or have I made any mistake? It that behavior documented anywhere? Is there any way to force maintaining the current size of the Recovery Partition during the upgrade? RegardsSolved2.4KViews0likes2Commentsmstsc.exe, GPO and RD Session Host
I need to understand the relationship between the "Deny log on through Remote Desktop Services" (or "Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services") and the properties of Collections defined on RD Session Hosts. If a collection on an RD Session Host is configured as "RemoteApp Programs" should I insert the domain users in the "Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services"? If a domain user is inserted in "Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services" how can I inhibit the use of mstsc.exe to simply access the desktop on the RD Session Host? Wich policies and settings sould I set in order to: - allow a domain user or group members launch applications publisched by a RD Session Host (with a collection configured as "RemoteApp Programs") - inhibit the same domain user or group members from using mstsc.exe to access the desktop on the same RD Session Host RegardsSolvedRemote Desktop Services
I implemented Remote Desktop Services on a Windows Server 2019 member of an Active Directory domain. On The "RD session host" I created a session collection to publish some applications. Now the "Resource type" of the collection is "RemoteApp Programs". From a client I start Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc.exe) and I see that I can create a Remote Desktop session, enter the username and password of a generic domain user and access the whole of the desktop of the RD Session Host. As a generic domain user i would expect to be able to connect only via Web Access, not via Remote Desktop Connection. Is it a normal behavior? Is there any error in the configuration of the RD session host, of the AD domain or of the Collection? RegardsSolved1.6KViews0likes1CommentNET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID
In a clean lab environment I installed 2 Windows Server 2019 servers. On the first server I installed: - Active Directory Domain Services - Active Directory Certificate Services with: - Certification Authority - Certification authority Web enrollment I joined the second server to the same AD domain and installed - IIS From IIS I attempted to get a certificate using either: - Create domain certificate - Create certificate request I attempted associating either certificates to the Default Web site but I go on getting the same error: NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID that means: This server couldn't prove that it's myserver.mydomain.local; its security certificate does not specify Subject Alternative Names. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection. Am I missing any relevant step? How can I solve the problem? RegardsCookies
I use Edge on Windows 10 for day by day navigation. Every time I open a page I receive a request for cookies to accept, and I answer that I want to accept only those strictly necessary. How can I configure Edge so that this choice is the default and I don't have to enter it every time? Regards416Views0likes0CommentsSQL Server Express
On my Windows 10 PCs I have been using for many years a third party application (Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows) that used to depend on Microsoft SQL Server Express. SQL Server Express was installed during Veeam Agent installation. The latest release of Veeam Agent does not use anymore SQL Express, so I could uninstall it if not used by other applications. Given that I have lots of applications on my PCs, how can I check that none uses SQL Express before uninstalling it? Regards1.4KViews0likes2Comments
