Albania’s trade deficit widened to ALL 43 billion in November 2024, up from ALL 39 billion in the same month of the previous year. Exports dropped 8.5% year-on-year to ALL 30 billion, with downward contributions mainly seen in construction materials and metals (-8.8 percentage points), textiles and footwear (-3.4 percentage points), and chemical and plastic products (-1.7 percentage points). Exports were particularly lower to Kosovo (-19.3%), Italy (-6.8%), and Greece (-2.6%). Meanwhile, imports rose 2% to ALL 73 billion, primarily driven by upward contributions from machinery, equipment, and spare parts (+2.5 percentage points) and chemical and plastic products (+1.2 percentage points). Imports were notably higher from Italy (+2.4%), China (+15.4%), and Greece (+11.2%).
