The current account surplus widened to EUR 1.4 billion in the third quarter of 2024, from EUR 1 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. It was the fifth consecutive period of surplus in the current account, as the goods account surplus increased to EUR 2.1 billion from EUR 1.2 billion a year earlier, while the secondary income gap narrowed to EUR 0.5 billion from EUR 0.7 billion. On the other hand, the services account recorded a deficit of EUR 0.4 billion, shifting from a surplus of EUR 0.2 billion.
