Producer prices in Austria declined by 2.6% year-on-year in September 2024, accelerating from a 2% drop in August. This marks the fifth consecutive period of deflation and is the steepest decline since May. The decrease was primarily driven by further reductions in energy prices (-13.5% vs. -11.9% in August). At the same time, costs rose at a slower pace for intermediate goods (0.7% vs. 1.1%), capital goods (2.5% vs. 2.8%), and consumer goods (2.2% vs. 1.6%).
