Median expectations for inflation over the next 12 months in the Euro Area increased for the first time in nine months to 2.5% in October 2024 from 2.4% in September which was the lowest level since September 2021. In addition, median expectations for inflation three years ahead remained unchanged at 2.1%, their lowest level since February 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine. Consumers expected the price of their home to increase by 2.8% over the next 12 months, unchanged from September. Also, uncertainty about inflation expectations over the next 12 months remained unchanged at its lowest level since February 2022. Elsewhere, expectations for income growth decreased to 1.1% from 1.3% but those for spending growth inched up to 3.3% from 3.2%. Economic growth expectations for the next 12 months turned more negative to -1.1%, (vs -0.9% in September). In contrast, expectations for the unemployment rate 12 months ahead decreased to 10.4% from 10.6%.

Elsewhere, income growth expectations increased to 1.3%, from 1.2% in August while expectations for nominal spending growth over the next 12 months remained stable at 3.2%, their lowest level since February 2022.
