Hungary's construction output shrank by 8.2% year-on-year in September 2024, slipping further from a revised 3.7% drop in the previous month. This marked the fourth consecutive month of falling construction activity and the sharpest drop since November 2023. Civil engineering works declined sharply (-17% vs -5.5% in August), while building construction fell at a softer pace (-2% vs -2.5%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output decreased by 2.7% in September, following a revised 2.2% fall in August.

Hungary's construction output fell by 6% year-on-year in August 2024, marking the third consecutive month of contraction, albeit slightly slowing from a 6.2% drop in the previous month. Output fell at a faster pace for building construction (-3.2% vs -2.8% in July). Meanwhile, production decreased less for civil engineering works (-10.2% vs -10.6%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output was 2.1% lower compared to the previous month.
