Hungary Industrial Output Contraction Confirmed at 0.2%
Industrial production in Hungary dropped by 0.2% year-on-year in October 2024, confirming both preliminary estimates and market forecasts. Output fell for electrical equipment (-16.9%), basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-4.9%), and transport equipment (-3.9%). These declines were partially offset by increases in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (16.3%), rubber and plastics, and other non-metallic mineral products (4.6%), and food, beverages and tobacco (2.7%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rose by 2% in October, rebounding from a 0.6% fall in September.

Industrial production in Hungary fell by 0.2% year-on-year in October 2024, easing from a 7.2% decline in the previous month, preliminary estimates showed. This marked the sixth consecutive month of contraction, albeit the smallest drop in the sequence. Production volume expanded in most of the manufacturing subsectors, notably in computer, electronic & optical products and food, beverages & tobacco. Meanwhile, production declined for transport equipment and electrical equipment. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rose by 2% in October, rebounding from a 0.6% fall in September.
