Kosovo Inflation Rate at Over 3-1/2-Year Low
The annual inflation rate in Kosovo slowed to 0.2% in September 2024 from 1.4% in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since January 2021. Prices rose at a slower pace for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.2% vs 3.3% in August), clothing & footwear (3% vs 3.4%), health (0% vs 0.8%), transportation (1.9% vs 2.2%), and recreation & culture (1.8% vs 2.3%). Moreover, the cost fell for housing & utilities (-0.2% vs 2.7%), while deflation picked up for transportation (-8% vs -1.3%) and communications (-1.9% vs -0.2%). On the other hand, inflation increased for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.4% vs 1.7%), restaurants & hotels (1.1% vs 1%), miscellaneous goods & services (3.6% vs 1.9%), while prices rebounded for education (0.2% vs -0.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.3%, reversing from a 0.2% increase in August.

The annual inflation rate in Kosovo slowed to 2.2% in July 2024 from 2.4% in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since February. Prices rose at a slower pace for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (4.2% vs 4.3% in June), housing & utilities (2.6% vs 3.6%), health (0.7% vs 2.1%), transportation (1.9% vs 2.2%), recreation & culture (3.1% vs 3.4%), restaurants & hotels (1.8% vs 2,6%), and miscellaneous goods & services (2% vs 2.3%). On the other hand, inflation picked up for clothing & footwear (3.6% vs 2.9%), housing & utilities (3.6% vs 3.3%), and furniture & household equipment (3% vs 2.8%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.3%, after a flat reading in June.

The annual inflation rate in Kosovo remained unchanged at 2.4% for the third straight month in June 2024. Prices eased for clothing & footwear (2.9% vs 3.1% in May), furnishings (2.8% vs 3%), transportation (2.2% vs 3%), and recreation & culture (3.4% vs 3.6%). In contrast, prices accelerated for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.8% vs 1.5%), housing & utilities (3.6% vs 3.3%), and restaurants & hotels (2.6% vs 2.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat in June, following a 0.4% decrease in the previous month.
