Mauritius Industrial Activity Sustains Healthy Growth
Industrial production in Mauritius rose by 3.3% in the second quarter of 2024, following a downwardly revised 3.1% increase in the previous three-month period. Increases were recorded in all sub-sectors, including electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (4.8% vs 5.6% in Q1); mining & quarrying (4.6 vs -0.4%); water supply, sewerage & waste management (3.9% vs 3.8%) and manufacturing (3.2% vs 2.5%). On a quarterly basis, industrial output climbed by 6.5% in Q2, rebounding sharply from an upwardly revised 18.7% slump in the previous quarter.

Industrial production in Mauritius rose 3.6% in the first quarter of 2024, following a 2.3% increase in the previous quarter. Output grew at a faster pace for manufacturing (2.8% vs 2.3% in Q4 2023) and water supply, sewerage & waste management (3.8% vs 2%). Also, production rebounded for mining & quarrying (13.6% vs -16.7%) while output slows for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (5.6% vs 7.6%). On a quarterly basis, industrial output slump 18.3% in Q1, following a 14.2% advance in the previous quarter.

Mauritius Industrial Production Grows For 11th Quarter
Industrial production in Mauritius increased by 2.3% in the fourth quarter of 2023, following an upwardly revised 1.1% increase in the previous quarter, marking the 11th consecutive quarter of growth. Output increased at a faster pace for manufacturing (2.3% vs 1.1% in Q3 2023) and electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (7.6% vs 3.1%). On the other hand, output grew at a slower pace for water supply, sewerage & waste management (2% vs 2.8%) and contracted further for mining & quarrying (-16.7% vs -7.2%). On a quarterly basis, industrial output increased by 14.2% in Q4, following a 4.3% increase in the previous quarter.
