Mozambique Inflation Rate at Near 5-Year Low of 2.5%
The annual inflation rate in Mozambique eased for the fifth straight month to 2.45% in September 2024, hitting the lowest since October 2019. Slower increases were seen primarily for education (3.36% vs 6.18% in August); restaurants & hotels (3.54% vs 3.89%); miscellaneous goods & services (1.73% vs 2.21%); clothing & footwear (1.91% vs 2.85%) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (2.69% vs 3.36%). Meanwhile, prices remained elevated for food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.29% vs 5.28%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.16% in September, after a 0.11% fall in the prior month.
