Annual wholesale inflation in Pakistan eased to 2.2% in November 2024, down from 3.9% in October. Prices rose at a significantly slower rate for minerals, electricity, gas, and water (4.7% vs 32.8% in October) and for agriculture, forestry, and fishery products (4.3% vs 7.8%). Moreover, inflation eased slightly for metal products, machinery, and equipment (4.5% vs 4.6%). Meanwhile, prices fell at a slower pace for other transportable goods (-5.6% vs -11.6%), while it accelerated for food, beverages, tobacco, textiles, and leather products (6.1% vs 4.8%). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices declined by 0.2%.

Pakistan Wholesale Inflation Quickens
Annual wholesale inflation in Pakistan increased to 3.9% in October 2024 from 1.9% in September which was the lowest since June 2020. Prices rose faster for agriculture, forestry & fishery (7.8% vs 2.5% in September); metal product, machinery & equipment (4.6% vs 3.8%); food, beverages, tobacco, textiles & leather products (4.8% vs 3.4%). In addition, cost decreased less for other transportable goods (-11.6% vs -13.3%) and continued to rise at a double-digit pace for ores, minerals, electricity, gas & water (32.8% vs 37%). Significant price hikes were observed in LNG (71.54%); vegetables (38.19%); engines & motors (28.57%); poultry (28.49%); cement (27.62%); sugar crops (26%); electric wires (25.43%); dairy products (23.78%); and cotton fabrics (21.75%). Compared to the previous month, wholesale prices were unchanged.
