Poland Retail Sales Growth Beats Forecasts
Retail sales in Poland climbed by 3.1% year-on-year in November 2024 from 1.3% in the previous month, easily beating market expectations of 1% gain. This marked the highest reading since July, as sales accelerated for motor vehicles, motorcycles and their parts (28.1% vs 24.1% in October) and other products (14.8% vs 12%). Moreover, sales decreased at a softer pace for food, beverages and tobacco products (-0.2% vs -1.2%), and furniture, radio, TV and household appliances (-2.3% vs -3.6%). Meanwhile, sales continued to fall for textiles, clothing, footwear (-14.7% vs -12.8%) and it slowed for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, orthopedic equipment (7.2% vs 9.6%). On a monthly basis, retail sales slipped by 1.2% in November 2024 from 7.8% gain in the previous month.

Retail sales in Poland rose by 1.3% year-on-year in October 2024, rebounding from a 3% drop in the previous month and exceeding expectations of a 0.8% increase. Retail sales rose further for motor vehicles, motorcycles and their parts (24.1% vs 11.2% in September), pharmaceuticals and cosmetics (9.6% vs 5.2%), and other products (12% vs 2.7%), while it rebounded for newspapers, books and other sale in specialized stores (1.8% vs -2.8%). On a monthly basis, retail sales increased by 7.8%, rebounding from a 5.7% fall in the previous month.
