Serbia Current Account Gap Widens in September
Serbia’s current account deficit widened to $1027 million in September 2024, the most since a record low in July 2008, from $111 million in the corresponding month of 2023. The goods gap increased to $771 million from $449 million and the primary income shortfall rose to $904 million from $415 million. Also, the services surplus narrowed to $216 million from $313 million and the secondary income surplus edged down to 431 million from 439 million.

Serbia Current Account Deficit Widens in August
Serbia’s current account deficit widened to $605 million in August 2024, from a deficit of $70 million in the corresponding month of 2023. Deficit rose for the goods account ($-838 million vs $-472 million in August 2023), while surplus reduced for the services account ($147 million vs $231 million) and secondary income ($479 million vs $614 million). Conversely, the primary income gap narrowed ($-393 million vs $-443 million).

Serbia Current Account Deficit Highest in 29 Months
Serbia’s current account deficit widened sharply to $845 million in July 2024, the largest since February 2022, from a deficit of $45 million in the corresponding month of 2023. Deficit rose for goods account ($-895 million vs $-440 million in July 2023) and primary income ($-495 million vs $-297 million). Additionally, surplus narrowed for services account ($4 million vs $101 million) and secondary income ($541 million vs $591 million).
