Retail sales in Taiwan rose 1.8% year-on-year in November 2024, rebounding from a 0.5% fall in the previous month. Sales recovered for food, beverages and tobacco (1.9% vs -0.5% in October), textiles and clothing (2.1% vs -2.1%), pharmaceutical and medical goods and cosmetics (5.2% vs -0.1%), and retail trade not in stores/stalls (0.6% vs -0.7%). Additionally, sales increased at a faster pace for construction materials (10.3% vs 7.5%), information and communications equipment and electrical household appliances (2.3% vs 1.2%) and other retail sales (12.7% vs 8%). Meanwhile, sales slowed for household appliances and goods (3.3% vs 3.8%) and electronic shopping and mail-order houses (0.8% vs 3.1%).
