Import prices in the US rose by 0.1 percent from the previous month in December of 2024, the same as in November and October and in line with market expectations. Also, nonfuel import prices ticked up 0.1 percent for the second consecutive month, as higher prices for foods, feeds, and beverages more than offset lower prices for nonfuel industrial supplies and materials, capital goods, and automotive vehicles. From the previous year, import prices rose 2.2%, the most in two years.
