Chile Leading Economic Index
In Chile, the Monthly Economic Activity Indicator – IMACEC – is an index that summarizes the activity of the different economic sectors in a given month, anticipating the future movements in GDP. The calculation is based on multiple IMACEC supply indicators, as well as estimates in the absence of direct monthly information which are weighted by share of economic activities in GDP in the previous year. The economic activities include: agriculture and forestry, fishing, mining, manufacturing, electricity, gas, water, construction, commerce, restaurants and hotels, transport, communications, financial intermediation, business services, housing services, education, health, other services, public administration. The index has a base value of 100 as of 2008.

Chile Economic Activity Rises for 7th Month
The Central Bank of Chile’s Imacec economic activity index rose by 2.5% from the previous year in January of 2025, slowing from the three-year high growth rate of 6.6% in the previous month but marking the seventh consecutive period of economic expansion reflected by the index. Chile Economic Activity Rises the Most in 3 Years
Chile’s Imacec economic activity index rose by 6.6% from the previous year in December of 2024,the most since January of 2022 extending the 2.1% increase in the previous month to mark the sixth consecutive period of growth. Economic activity rose sharply for the production of goods (13.3%) amid higher output for mined goods (15.1%), manufactured goods (10.1%), and other goods (12.2%). Also, activity in commerce soared by 10.6%. In the meantime, services activity growth lagged by rising 2%. From the previous month, economic activity measured by the index rose by 0.9%.

Chile's Economic Activity Growth Remains Solid
Chile's Imacec economic activity index rose by 2.1% year-on-year in November 2024, after a 2.3% increase in October, marking the fifth consecutive month of growth. The month registered one less business day than November 2023. Output increased in all main sectors, namely trade (+4.8% vs +6.2% in October), goods-producing (+2.7% vs +1.7%) and services (+1.4% vs +2.2%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, Chilean economic activity increased by 0.3% in November, following a 0.4% rise in the preceding month.
