Serbian Retail Sales Rise the Most in 2 Years
Retail sales in Serbia soared by 11.1% from the corresponding period of the previous year in April of 2024, the most in over two years, to accelerate from the 6.6% in the earlier month. Turnover rose the most for non-food products excluding fuel (14.7%), pointing to some traction for the Serbian consumer. In the meantime, turnover growth was also high for automotive fuel in specialized stores (10.2%) and retail of food, beverages, and tobacco products (8.8%).

Retail sales in Serbia increased 6.6% year-on-year in March 2024, following an 8.8% rise in February. It marks the fifth consecutive month of increases in retail trade activity. Sales were higher for food, beverages and tobacco (7.5%), non-food (6.2%) and auto fuel (5.3%). Compared to the previous month, retail sales soared 12.2%.
