This included net foreign private inflows of $220.0 billion and net foreign official outflows of $16.4 billion. Foreign residents increased their holdings of long-term U.S. securities with net purchases totaling $136.3 billion, comprised of $126.6 billion from private foreign investors and $9.7 billion from foreign official institutions.
