Do not invest money with cibc anytime

Do not invest money with cibc. My husband died suddenly last year, I had the death certificate, his will and power of attorney. Because the amount in the account, which was in his name, came to over $50,000 the bank is insisting that I have to spend money and have probate as well, before they will release any of our money to me. There is myself and our son, no one is contesting anything………..Nita

Scammed me into Credit card and mortgage

Scammed me into Credit card. Credit card never arrived, not activated or used. two years later realized my credit score is dropping because I have payment due.

Also for mortgage approval. worst experience of my life, they never respond to your emails , ever. when you ask them to redirect to manager than they play sweet and you expect response same day. They wasted my 4 months just to approve mortgage and still didn't do it. I had to go to another bank.

0 would be more appropriate I cancelled…

0 would be more appropriate I cancelled everything with them
And I’m still getting email communications. A disgruntled ex-client I just had to spend an hour on the phone with them and I closed everything 3 years ago I’m still getting emails about credit card statements but I shouldn’t even have an account - the WORST.

Lure you in with promotions that never…

Lure you in with promotions that never materialize. Costco gift card hasn’t arrived almost a year after opening the chequing account and transferring monthly direct debits as per criteria. Transferred my TFSA AND RRSP accounts from another bank with the 100 free trades promotion. The promotion wasn’t applied to the accounts and I’ve called three times to try and resolve it and it still doesn’t get done. This company is a large scale scam operation. Trust me, avoid them and do not get suckered in like I did.

Just the worst bank EVER!

Just the worst bank EVER!
I was coerced then scammed for 800$ by a crypto recovery company called Best Refund. I notified and asked for help from CIBC Fraud Centre of this, told them that the person had seen everything due to a Google Meet call. So they closed and locked my account so no money could come out then opened a new account for me. We'll the account never got LOCKED and money was taken out after, which put me over my overdraft. They also established that because the money was withdrawn by me that they don't have to help and wouldn't help. At this point I didn't feel like continuing our 19 year banking relationship and moved to a different bank. I had and still intend on paying the 800$ overdraft money back but now they've changed the account to a Demand Loan account with a 21% interest rate.
This is a low down dirty move from a bank who I was with for 19 years and never did a thing for me!
RBC, BMO or TD are way better banks...I suggest you use one of them or a smaller provincial bank like ATB.
STAY AWAY FROM CIBC THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER!!

So, I'm not allowed to help my dad

My dad in his late 60s, was trying to make a payment through WealthSimple. CIBC flagged it as fraudulent, which is fine and we call like the text message told him to do.

Here is where I am displeased as well as my father, because while I call for him but give him the phone to explain the problem... The representative hears me in the background helping my dad and demands MY dad not talk with me, his daughter, who is helping him with his accounts.

The man doesn't verify anything, ask anything personal. Recent transactions, nothing he puts us on hold for far too long and demands that my father come into the branch.

He didn't even try to verify if my dad was who he says he was. Simply asking a few specific account information could have easily fixed this problem and not require him to go into the branch. Instead the representative got upset that my dad explained to him that he can discuss his accounts with whomever he wishes in his own house.

These guys deserve nothing more than 1…

These guys deserve nothing more than 1 star.
Unable to resolve simple issues.
Waited in the call with customer service more than 1.5 hrs after which the issue wasn't resolved and we were asked to go to the branch which advised to call the customer service in the first place.

I got a cibc credit card a couple years…

I got a cibc credit card a couple years ago. I never activated it. And cibc started to charge me a yearly fee. They said that if i never activated the card i would not be charged. Anyway, i was charged and went to cancel my card again. I was on hold today for over 3 hrs to cancel my credit card that was never activated. I guess i should have just kept paying them the $12 a year and saved 3hrs of my life

These customer service have no respect…

These customer service have no respect for elderly. We are asking one simple question for amount on visa. So I told them my dad won't able to understand the question . So I gave him the phone to talk to him. I heard the question but like I said he won't understand. You don't need to ask if your on speaker or not. My dad can't hardly hear on the phone that is why he put the speaker. Have some respect for elderly. Or have someone that will speak his language. No one had ask if he needs a translator to talk to him.

Only one star because you can't leave…

Only one star because you can't leave zeros or negatives. It took me four months to get a technical problem solved with my bank card, despite an endless succession of "service" reps denying there was a problem. Since I received the new card I have used it sparingly. Today I went to withdraw money and after telling me my daily limit is $20.00 which is total nonsense, the ATM kept my card. I then phoned on-line "support" only to be confronted with yet another South Asian who was barely understandable, and needed endless repeats in order that could get any idea of what he was saying. I will now await a new card and see how they manage to screw up this request.
CIBC, when 89% of the reviews are one star it is beyond argument that you have a serious problem. The fact that you allow this to continue shows nothing but contempt for your customers.

I wish i could give a negative rating…

I wish i could give a negative rating for CIBC. On call to get to customer support agent for the past hour and a half!
I am really surprised how banks get away with doing this sort of crap. They should be held accountable. Beyond pathetic customer service

I would have given it negative ratings

I would have given it negative ratings, but there's no option for that. I had to waste over hours to get a resolution for my credit card issue. Agents kept transferring me from one department to another and each time I had to wait over 40 mins. This is ridiculous. I have the screenshots of waiting for more than 1 hours every week!!!

WORST SERVICE

I would have given it negative ratings, but there's no option for that. I had to waste over hours to get a resolution for my credit card issue. Agents kept transferring me from one department to another and each time I had to wait over 40 mins. This is ridiculous. The call got disconnected in between and no one called me back. I had to call back again and start from the beginning.
Worst customer service experience ever.

CIBC has a worst customer service

CIBC has a worst customer service. It’s been 4 days, l am trying to call but there is no luck, and no one answering the call. This financial Institution just sucks to get money. I wish l could give zero as even this is not deserved for one star.

I listened to elevator music for an hour waiting to talk to someone about a credit card application. Finally hung up. Want to cancel my Costco Cr Card application but keep getting these infernal emails which I have to set up an acct to get details. I DON'T WANT TO CREATE AN ACCT NOR DO I WANT YOUR CRUMMY CREDIT CARD. I JUST WANT TO SPEAK TO A HUMAN AND CANCEL THIS MESS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST 3 MONTHS.

Trying to contact this bank for the past 5 days.

Trying to contact this bank from abroad, for the past week in an effort to fix a problem with my using my debit card in european ATMs, has been an absolute nightmare, causing me a great deal of stress and anxiety. It was only after aprox 6days that I was able to speak with a very helpful and sympathetic, customer service, lady in toronto ( shona 21.dec.24 ), but, after hours of phone calls, and , more hours of waiting to get through, my problem persists, meanwhile, I can´t withdraw my pension, Thankyou CIBC !!!!! NOT !!!!. I respectfully suggest that, CIBC. urgently review and upgrade their in house ,training whilst impressing on thjeir staff, the importance of good and fruitful, customer service/ relations., the key word, being , SERVICE !!If hotels can do this, why can´t banks ?!.Must add, that, I concur with the majority of negative reviews, written here. CIBC . customer drrvice, is long overdue a complete overhaul,in my humble opinion.

“Global transfer” a service promoted…

“Global transfer” a service promoted and not serviced. It does not work on the mobile app neither on the desktop in several browsers. I spent more than two hours on the phone with one of their support team and she ended up suggesting to go in person to a branch. Next I did that and from the very beginning all of them, one by one no knowledge at all about the service and no interest at all in finding out or trying to help. Eventually the brushed me off.
Frustrated I decided to call the bank and complain about the hole thing. The person I spoke with was very apologetic and assured me the he was helping me by giving me the phone number of the specialist on the service. The number was answered by trying to sell me a service and then telling me me that I had to call another number. This new number repeated the same sequence and then I decided not to continue with the game. It is sad and a shame that such an institution has such poor service and so low quality of people working for them

Worst customer service at portage road…

Worst customer services at portage road in Niagara Falls. Didn’t explain nothing to me about the checking account. I asked her about the promotion thsts going on but she didn’t have a clue or didn’t want to tell me anything I was there for 12 minutes. Not satisfied I will never send my children or family to cibc on portage road.I was disgusted in with the customer service with her.
