Placed an order for a TV

... and they were very quick to delivery TV, two days window appointment.
But decided to cancel and it just took one simple phone call and it was done.
Didn't even ask why I wanted to cancel but seemed strange!!

Excellent Customer Service

I purchased a £500 laptop over a year ago and it had a fault which fell within the 1 Year period. I contacted the shop where I bought the laptop and they arranged to have it fixed.

Five months later, out of the warranty, it developed the same fault. I was advised by the shop to contact the laptop company direct as there had been an issue with faulty mother boards. I contacted them and they basically said "tough!"

I went back to Currys and they gave me £240 towards a new laptop. Their customer Service people could not have been nicer. Thank you Currys for my new laptop.

Claim Large Items Have Been Delivered When They Haven't Been

Don't order anything from Currys if you want to stay sane. I ordered a fridge freezer on 30th Nov 2010. Was told delivery would be 3rd Dec. They rang on 2nd Dec eve to say delayed until 8th Dec. I had to disconnect and defrost my old fridge freezer to be taken away AND ENSURE IT WAS DRY, so obviously needed to do this ahead of time. The delivery time slot was given as 1230 to 1630. I moved everything in my tiny home to make it possible to get the old one out and the new one in and waited. At 1830 a foreign delivery guy rang on a mobile and from what I could make out claimed the van had broken down, and suggesting I ask for my money back. Three long (and expensive) phone calls to customer services and all I'm told is that they don't know why it wasn't delivered and there's nothing they can do about it. HONESTLY! That's what they say! I've recorded the calls and am writing to all the directors (names from Companies House). AVOID CURRYS LIKE THE PLAGUE!

A highstreet stone with high prices!

Well what can I say, prices are not very competitive against online stores. Their staff don't seem to know much about computer equipment but we got there in the end.

If I wasn't needing the equipment the same day I would have gone elsewhere.

Cover plan a joke!

We have been paying for "whatever happens" cover for our laptop for 5 years now. When we recently took it in to be fixed it was booked in then left in stores for 2 weeks before it was sent. Then when it came back it was not reparied properly. We have since been told twice it has been writen off and then told it has been repaired again. To add insult to injury the replacement we have been offered in completely inferior to the model we have. Between the laptop and the amount we have spent on the insurance we have lost over £1500. Think twice before you take out the insurance!

Super

Bought a fantastic full hd tv, from curry's hope to upgrade sooner rather than later to 3D...

Not Impressed

If you go to a specialist retailer it is reasonable to expect they have knowledge of the products being sold. I recently bought a freesat box from them. None of the sales assistants came up to ask if I needed any help ( I was the only customer in the shop) when I eventually made an selection they flogged me an HDMI cable , which I later found I didn't need because the box already came with one. They also didn't stock cable to extend from the satellite to where I wanted my TV. And whilst I am happy with the freesat box itself , I now find there is no discernable way I can link the freesat to my dvd recorder which I just assumed I would be able to do. If Curry's staff were more product literate then the issues with the HDMI cable and linking to my DVD recorded could have been avoided..
My advice ? Go to John Lewis , may be more expensive but at least the staff know ther products

Poor customer service...but need it be good when their prices practically match the internet?!

Having looked for a TV in numerous other outlets I went to Currys - I was utterly sick of (largely) pretentious young men trying sell me products (which for the most part I didnt want). I arrived thinking maybe it would be easier to stick to the somewhat outdated but functioning TV that I already owned. The amazing thing was, I was able to browse the TVs; the Dishwashers; the musical equipment etc and make my own decision without numerous sales assistants trying to force their opinions upon me to get a quick sale! Eventually I purchased a 50" Samsung (plasma) - it was an investment!

Usually reliable and a variety of goods

I've bought goods from Currys and what I have received have been quite happy with. The only issue I did have was I bought Washing m/c and it was damaged on delivery but it was sorted out without too much delay

DIY!!!!

Staff are very ignorant about products and tend to force sales on customers, particularly, insurance cover.

nice showroom, shame about the after sales service

I have a lot of products purchased at PC World/Currys and generally take out a service agreement. Over recent years I have noticed that the service under the extended warranty is getting worse and worse. Most recently they lost my laptop - and then told me I would have to wait 42 days before it would be replaced. Appalling. not even an apology that they have lost my property and my hard drive, with personal data I could not remove from the laptop due to the nature of the technical problem now in god knows whose hands.
