kindness and competence, competitive price

Bought a Canon 60D, price matched the best prices on the web (barring imports from Hong Kong).

An extremely kind member of the stuff at Braehead (Graeme) helped with the choice and answered all my questions re camera and lenses. You rarely find somebody so competent in big stores.

Couldn't have asked for more than this, 5 stars!

Sale of Goods Act - What Act?

Recently visited a Currys.Digital store about buying a new microwave (£120). The sales advisor told me for an extra £4.50 per month, I can have a "What ever Happens Warranty" type of service. I declined this, and he told me "Well the first year we'll cover it, but after that if it breaks, it is cheaper to just come back and buy a new one, as the call out fee is £125". I asked him "What about the Sale of Goods Act, in that it should be fit for purpose and last for at least 6 years" he told me "No, that doesn't cover this product, we're an international company that act doesn't affect us" - Even the manager "backed up" this sales rep. To which I walked out. What a bunch of idiots.

Best online purchase experience i've had.

I bought a 50" Panasonic TV, Was a little bit cautious because of quite a few negative reviews but currys had it for the best price i could find by some margin with their spring voucher codes so i took a chance and bought it. Ordered thursday, selected tuesday for delivery over easter weekend though so 2 bank holidays to contend with, received a phone call the next day with a guy from the know how team just checking my order because i'd only lived at this address for 3 months so didn't register on the system somewhere, he just told me my card details (last four digits) and that the address and order was right then said i'd receive a phone call on monday giving me a 4 hour slot for delivery so i didn't have to wait in all day. I could have paid a tenner for a 2 hour slot but had the day off so didn't bother.
I received 2 texts one on friday and one Monday reconfirming my order and delivery details and got a phone call in which the guy said delivery would be between 7am and 10am but then said to be honest it should really be with you by 9am at the latest tomorrow.
Next morning Tv arrived at 8 am, well chuffed, it's nice to know whats going on and i would most definately recommend currys.
I don't normally write reviews but am very impressed with this service.
Very good.

three stars

Wide choice with items clearly displayed, although sales staff not always knowledgeable.. Very expensive after sales warranties. Noisy alarms ring on the shop floor when display cabinets are opened - very irritating for customers!

In Store or On Line? Why not a bit both!

Wanted a new Laptop so checked online to see want deals were around. Found the best price on Comet and on another internet only supplier. I always like to see what I buying before I make a purchase, so went down to our local Comet. But they did not have the one I wanted in stock. I asked the staff for help and they showed me a similar laptop from the same company. I asked if they could get hold of the one I wanted but they said there was no stock in the South East. The staff member said that I could order the laptop online and get it delivered to the shop with no delivery charge. This I did and I also went to a Voucher Codes website where I found a voucher code for 5% off available at the time. Very happy with the result, try the best of both worlds.

Its now been a month and no ones called as promised to say a working laptop is in to replace the faulty one this is the third laptop from them all of them faulty in a different way. Each time I have had to chase them to see if it was in. I am totally fed up with Currys truro 2131 and there poor service and will not shop with this store again.

Friendly knowledgable service.

Needed a new washing machine urgently, but only had limited funds. Dropped into local Currys where they had a display model on sale. Asked if I could take it away there and then for a slightly less than advertised, manager said yes, the sales assistant and myself loaded it into my car, job done. Was quite happy to take it with no instructions or packaging. That was 6 years ago and the machine is still going strong. I always drop in as you never know what other bargins made be made. Have brought smaller items since from there, as the staff are friendly not pushy.
