If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would, absolutely terrible company. Paid for my insurance for 3 years never missed a payment and never made a claim, had my bike stolen for them to deny my claim with a really lame excuse so between this insurance company and the scumbag that stole my bike iv been properly screwed over. Thanks for nothing guardcover.

avoid at all costs

They use terribly loose wording on their policy to avoid paying out. 8 years in a row I've paid them without a single claim and refused to take responsibility for a theft when the bike was locked in a secure building. Joke of a company

Weaselling out of paying out

After months of slow responses (taking weeks each time) they concluded on my case that it was not a qualifying theft as it was a pickpocket rather than a violent mugging. Two years of paying this insurance! They absolutely do not make that clear in the policy documents

Policy renewed without permission and 230% increase

I purchased their bicycle cover last year for £19.18. I have had no cause to claim, so cannot comment as to their service. However, I received an imminent expiry notification some 3 weeks before the expiry date. This notification clearly stated that if I do nothing, the policy will lapse. I did nothing, and today I received an email thanking me for renewing the policy. They have taken the new premium of £44.80 via my credit card. This new premium represents an increase of 230%.

Scammers? Avoid!

Try to sign up for bike insurance online. Website crashed at the last step (as I submitted bank details). Charged my bank account but policy still draft/inactive! Asked to be refunded but heard nothing since. Avoid these scammers

Cannot quote for renovation work over £100k

Raised a quote, requested to call in to clarify details which I did, received the quote, then called 2 days later to clarify details a second time. On clarification, the quote could not committed anymore because the cost of renovation work was above £100k. Completely inexplicable why this declared detail was overlooked in the initial quote raise process, and the first clarification call. 3 hours of my life I'll never get back wasted on this experience and comparing a moot policy against competitors.

Almost criminal - no opt in opt out automatic renew. Look out students.

As mentioned in two phone calls after, over a 10 minute wait on each for someone to lift the phone. I feel your underhand and frankly rogue practice of not including the option to opt in or out of policy auto renew on the online application form is a scam and you should be ashamed of yourselves, especially with impoverished students currently who may not notice this repugnant malpractice.
Putting it in small print in the cover confirmation email is a joke. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
As a dad sorting out contents insurance for my son, all I can say to any student considering a policy with Guardcover is be very very careful.
You will automatically be entered into automatic renewal unless you specifically contact Guardcover not to do so. Ask for an email confirming opt out unless you wish to avail of. Also students, check out the insurance market place each year - have a look around for new deals. New deals tend to be much less expensive than auto renew policies which are, to me, verging on criminal territory without the option to opt in or out.
Parting note to Guardcover you change your online application form to include opt in or opt out auto renew and I edit my review more favourably. If you’ve a ceo wake up whoever you are and sort out your incompetently managed business.

Please, please....AVOID!!

My camera was stolen when I was on a bus, the bus company was reported, the theft was reported to the police, and yet the insurance managed to tell me that it didn't qualify as theft and I got nothing.

I was paying the insurance for almost a year, I don't understand how the insurance decided, without doing any investigation, just with one call to ask me what happened, the agent decided, that my case did not qualify as "stolen camera", because there had been no aggression, physical contact with the thief or anything similar. I was speechless, I couldn't believe it.
