Description: Every year, Statistics Canada collects data from hundreds of surveys. As the amount of data gathered increases, Statistics Canada has introduced infographics to help people, business owners, academics, and management at all levels, understand key information derived from the data. Infographics can be used to quickly communicate a message, to simplify the presentation of large amounts of data, to see data patterns and relationships, and to monitor changes in variables over time.

These infographics will provide a quick overview of Statistics Canada survey data.

Detailed estimates (by single year of age) have been produced for Canada and all of the provinces, except Prince Edward Island, based on two types of complete life tables: three-year estimates (for periods of consecutive three years) and single-year estimates. Aggregated estimates (by five-year age group) have been produced for Prince Edward Island and the three territories separately based on abridged life tables (three-year estimates).

Description: This interactive dashboard allows the visualization of the age and gender structure of the population of Canada, provinces and territories. The data presented cover the period from 1971 to the most recent year. The dashboard shows the proportion of the total population by broad age group, the proportion of centenarians, the distribution of the population by age and gender, the average age, the number of people aged 15 to 64 per person aged 65 years and older and the gender ratio by age group. Data can be visualized for Canada or for a selected province or territory.
