Description: Every year, Statistics Canada collects data from hundreds of surveys. As the amount of data gathered increases, Statistics Canada has introduced infographics to help people, business owners, academics, and management at all levels, understand key information derived from the data. Infographics can be used to quickly communicate a message, to simplify the presentation of large amounts of data, to see data patterns and relationships, and to monitor changes in variables over time.

These infographics will provide a quick overview of Statistics Canada survey data.

Description: Statistics Canada regularly prepares presentations with statistical findings about the country’s economy, society and environment. These presentations may be intended for conferences, meetings with stakeholders, or other events held throughout the year to provide Statistics Canada with an opportunity to promote the role of official statistics and to better understand data users’ needs. This series provides online access to these presentations as well as new presentations created to help communicate research findings on a wide range of subjects to a broad audience.

Health Reports, published by the Health Analysis Division of Statistics Canada, is a peer-reviewed journal of population health and health services research. It is designed for a broad audience that includes health professionals, researchers, policymakers, and the general public. The journal publishes articles of wide interest that contain original and timely analyses of national or provincial/territorial surveys or administrative databases. New articles are published electronically each month.

Health Reports had an impact factor of 5.0 for 2022 and a five-year impact factor of 5.6. All articles are indexed in PubMed. Our online catalogue is free and receives more than 700,000 visits per year. External submissions are welcome.

Proportions of workers who received payment are presented by age group, sex, province or region, industry of employment, income and size of business as well as for First Nations, Métis and Inuit workers separately.

This article summarizes a new report, prepared by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and Statistics Canada, that updates empirical analysis intended to support the development of the selection criteria for economic immigrants in Canada. The follow-up study asks which selection factors best predict earnings of economic principal applicants. The analysis focuses on factors that are currently used in the selection of economic immigrants and that are available in the Longitudinal Immigration Database. These factors, all measured at landing, are: age, education, official language ability, pre-landing Canadian work experience, pre-landing Canadian study experience, whether the applicant has a spouse, and the sociodemographic characteristics of the spouse.

Less is known about the use of non-prescription medications (alone or in combination with prescription medications) across the frailty spectrum or by sex. Description: This article examines the experiences Indigenous women in Canada, and where possible provides results for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Indigenous identity groups. The focus is on experiences of violent victimization and perceptions of neighbourhood, safety, and the criminal justice system. The prevalence of gender-based violent victimization in Canada is examined using self-reported data from the 2018 Survey of Safety in Public and Private Spaces. Data from the 2019 General Social Survey (GSS) on Canadians’ Safety (Victimization) is used to explore confidence in police and criminal courts, as well as perceptions of neighbourhood cohesion and disorder. In addition, homicide data highlights the prevalence and characteristics of homicide of Indigenous women in Canada.

A strong sense of meaning and purpose is apparent across Canada, as revealed in this infographic which features selected data from Wave 3 of the Canadian Social Survey (October to December 2021). The visuals show the level of meaning and purpose reported by Canadians aged 15 and older by selected demographic characteristics, including geographic region and age group. Here, respondents are said to have a strong sense of meaning and purpose if they answered 8, 9 or 10 to the question “Using a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 means ‘Not at all’ and 10 means ‘Completely,’ to what extent do you feel the things you do in your life are worthwhile?”
