Introduction
Welcome to the AAPM BBS! This is a forum that allows members to hold discussions and post content that is relevant to the AAPM community. In order to make your visit more pleasant, we will start by describing four key areas:
The Main Menu
The main menu (which appears on every page) is comprised of ten buttons (or text links):
- AAPM, which takes you back to the AAPM home page.
- Search, which allows you to search the forums for whatever you're looking for.
- New Threads, which shows you new threads since you last logged in.
- Statistics, which shows you statistics about the forum.
- User Listing, which shows you the users of the Board.
- Forums, which takes you back to the Board index.
- Calendars, which lists the calendars (if any), and a short description of what its for.
- Quotes, shows you a list of quotes in the system.
- Control Panel , which allows you to make changes to your profile settings.
The Board Index
The Board Index (BBS home page) lists all of the various categories and forums. This is where you would navigate and click in to the forum you are interested in:
- Clicking on the Category Name hides the all of the other categories so that you're just viewing the one.
- If the category is collapsible (shown by the
symbol), clicking collapses or 
expands the category as appropriate.
- The forum name links to the forum index for that board.
- The forum description describes the board's content, and may also include the board's moderator(s).
The Forum Index
The forum index lists all of the various threads in that particular forum. This is the screen where you wold start a new topic of discussion (thread).
- The New Thread and New Poll buttons are for starting new topics and polls, as described in posting help.
- The Subject/Topic of Thread links to the start of the thread.
- The names of the members who have started the thread, or last replied to, are linked to their respective profiles.
The Thread Index
The Thread Index is where you find the actual posts and where you would reply to a post.
- Click on the page numbers link to go to another page in the thread.
- The
button enables you to start a new thread.
- There are three places where you can reply, clicking on either
or 
buttons enables you to reply to the thread. You can also type your response at the bottom and submit.
- The
button enables you to quote the post when you reply.
- To report abusive or wrongly-placed posts to the board administrator/moderator/staff, click on the
button.
- Further
options are provided to members to edit their own posts, only moderators can Delete posts.
- The
and 
buttons link to the top and bottom of the current page.
- The Author name links to the author's profile
- The Author details in the lefthand column is accompanied by further posting and personal information.
- The Thread/Subject Name links back to the start of the thread.
- The Toggle e-mail notification enables you to subscribe to email notification of replies to the topic.
- The Jump to menu provides a convenient quick method of navigating the board.
