A story of self-discovery. Well developed characters. Through metaphors and adventure aspects of the human condition that are hard to put into words, are. The transformation of forgiveness is palpable.

Wow! I am blown away.

My daughter read the book obsessively, raved about it. So I decided to lean in and see what the book was about. I feel like I want to paint, write and expand. Essentially, I am inspired. Highly recommend this listen. As always Julia’s voice is a dream to listen to. I want to listen to more books by Ottessa.

From start to finish this book was engaging. Bonnie Garmus has a deep understanding of the human condition. Moments of inspiration, heart break, set with a time when things were more challenging for women. Through her storytelling, she encourages us as a society, not to be complacent.

A brave attempt at assimilating a tragic reality. I appreciated Didion’s capacity to face her mistakes and how they may have affected her child. The misunderstandings between love ones are hard to accept let alone expose in a book. She clearly loved her daughter deeply.

I would recommend this book to anyone trying to understand the oppression of religious dogma on the human condition. The characters are well developed. Toews story telling, and narration were excellent as always.
