Other Novels are Ruined for Me

I enjoy this series and it's narrator so much, going back to the other Novels on my list just doesn't hit the same. The MC's character growth is complex, the development of tge plot is engaging, the comedic moments leave me grinning like an idiot, and a few moments left tears streaming down my face.
Overall this has become my favorite series.

my most eagerly awaited novel

I had to ration this book to make it last as long as possible. there are few things I've been as excited about as each new release in this series. The Lit RPG genre has a problem with power creep eventually overtaking plot and the story becoming less and less coherent. The author manages to navigate these pitfalls and create a compelling story that contributes to the growth of the main character both emotionally and within the power scale of the world.
I've cackled over some moments, been close to tears in others, and unable to peel myself away almost constantly. I listen while driving and more than once found myself sitting in my car putting off getting out just to listen to a few more minutes.
Aside from the writing, the narration has great representation of character, as well as excellent timing and cadence.
... I can't wait for the next release.

I eagerly await the next release

I listen to a lot of books on here, but this one is probably my most anticipated. It has the perfect balance of plot, action, and humor. The characters are engaging and genuinely grow throughout the series. I'm only sad this one is over and I need to wait for the next in the series.

So now that he’s finally managed to (somewhat clumsily) behead the evil king (turns out magical swords yanked from bogs don’t come pre-sharpened), he and his rag-tag group of quest companions are at a bit of a loss for what to do next. As a temporary safeguard, Arek’s best friend and mage, Matt, convinces him to assume the throne until the true heir can be rescued from her tower. Except that she’s dead.

a sweet romance that milks the "obvious misunderstanding" trope for everything it's worth. Nothing new or sensational, and nothing unexpected, but the main storyline gives what you would expect of a YA romance.
The side stories and characters occasionally pull more interest, each has their own little moment of development.

I'm still buzzing from the book, and in complete deposit that the next one comes out in several months. The adventure and fantasy elements are all so engaging, but it's the personal elements I'm dying to hear more about. how certain relationships progress or resolve. which conflicts come to a climax... and whose face gets ground into the dirt.

i didn't most of my waking hours listening to this

I really enjoyed this book. I've always loved progression fantasy, watching as the Mc grows andv develops. sure there was some occasional over explaining, not the story generally keeps a tight pace.
at the end my strongest take is an emotional "yeah, but #$@#$$#@##@ @#&$@$#$##!!!!"
on another small note... a hydrophobic surface would be more buoyant than otherwise. that bugged me probably more than it should have.
