Histoire
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Histoire
The science fiction genre has become increasingly influential in mainstream popular culture, evolving into one of the most engaging storytelling tools we use to think about technology and consider the shape of the future. Along the way, it has also become one of the major lenses we use to explore important philosophical questions. The origins of science fiction are most often thought to trace to Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein, a story born from a night of spooky tale-telling by the fireside that explores scientific, moral, and ethical questions that were of great concern in the 19th century - and that continue to resonate today.

Histoire
Jordan Peterson is a Canadian clinical psychologist and a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. He rose to prominence in 2013 after he began uploading recordings of his lectures to YouTube, attracting millions of subscribers and tens of millions of views. Viewed by some as a controversial figure, Peterson characterises himself “against political correctness.” He received considerable media coverage after criticising the Canadian government's move to enact Bill C-16, which made misgendering a form of hate speech.

This lecture added to my knowledge and consolidated how I view some problems. Subjects such as post-modernism, gender, hierarchy, and tribe, are well discussed.

Histoire
Joe Dispenza, DC, has spent decades studying the human mind-how it works, how it stores information, and why it perpetuates the same behavioral patterns over and over. In the acclaimed film What the Bleep Do We Know!?, he began to explain how the brain evolves - by learning new skills, developing the ability to concentrate in the midst of chaos, and even healing the body and the psyche. Evolve Your Brain presents this information in depth, while helping you take control of your mind.

Life-changing!
Évalué le: 2020-04-09
I finished this audiobook in less than a week. It was like a course on how brain works but has incorporated some inspiring message about how neural network based human mind can rise above its animal nature and take the grip of its low-level needs. And I love the narrator too much.

Histoire
Most people think success comes from good luck or enormous talent, but many successful people achieve their accomplishments in a simpler way: through self-discipline. Brian Tracy knows this firsthand. He didn’t graduate from high school, and after working for a few years as a laborer, he realized he had limited skills and a limited future. But through the power of self-discipline, he changed his life.

Histoire
Sam Harris tears down the wall between scientific facts and human values, arguing that most people are simply mistaken about the relationship between morality and the rest of human knowledge. Harris urges us to think about morality in terms of human and animal well-being, viewing the experiences of conscious creatures as peaks and valleys on a "moral landscape".

Thought-provoking!

I think the moral landscape is a book that everybody needs to read it! It's about rejecting superstitions, it's about coming together to decide about our moral decisions instead of resorting to ancient textbooks.
