Difficult to be preached at by some who does not know what he is talking about
Évalué le: 2024-11-10
This guy has serious theological problems and makes receiving anything from him problematic. I dislike listening to someone who thinks he has all the answers. I’d rather see a sermon than hear one any day.

Existential Garbage
Évalué le: 2024-09-20
If you’re depressed, this will move you closer to suicide. The author obviously is going through an existential crises that he can’t find his way out of. Unable to rationalize any basis for a moral framework or meaning for “existence”, the author can do no better than pull out woke liberal tropes like “be kind” as though this is some self-evident basis and motivation for living. If you find a Rolex watch on the beach, you don’t say “oh, look what the wind and waves created.” A human being is infinitely more complicated than a Rolex watch, yet the author refuses to consider the possibility of intelligent design. If you want to read something written by someone who has relegated himself to physical matter and put the blinders on to other possibilities due to his prior commitment to existentialism, then this book is for you.

You’re going to love it.” Step inside The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians and enter a world where you can feed your curiosities, discover new voices, find whatever you want or require. People talking about themselves, not much magic.
Évalué le: 2024-05-07
True stories of the "magic of reading?" I do not think so. True stories about how people became bookstore owners for sure. Stories of young lives changed through reading, yes. After a while, the stories all seemed so predictable though and were presented in a perfunctory manner.

Unrelenting Garbage
Évalué le: 2023-11-19
If you’re 15 years old and think someone has something to say because they name drop and use the “f” word as an adjective, noun and verb then this book is for you. Total waste of a credit, definitely will not be paying to see this drivel in written format.

Great story, not so great narration.
Évalué le: 2023-07-14
Watchman Nee’s life is no Cinderella story. Dealing with the shameful politics of Christian organizations and living in China during World War II presented him with many difficult issues. I learned something about China and about Mr. Nee’s life. I was hoping for a happy ending but that did not happen while he lived, I am sure Mr. Nee and his wife Charity are in a better place now. Difficult to listen to because of the narration, by the time I got to the last chapter I could stand it but maybe it was because the last chapter was the best.

Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

Trash Fiction
Évalué le: 2023-02-22
I was looking for a good read; this is not a good read. It’s a script for what I imagine the author hopes to be another B grade Hollywood movie. Hollywood because it parrots common woke liberal themes so heavily promoted by Hollywood. The narration was very well done, but the author has nothing to say. Don’t waste your time listening to this trash. Good books are like good music, I enjoy listening to them many times getting something new from them each time I listen to them. I will never listen to this book again, it’s not worth listening to even once.

Narration is so well done!

The narration by Stephen Fry is truly amazing, every bit as good as Bill Homewood’s narration of the Count of Monte Cristo which is truly epic!
