Slow story, no chemistry
Reviewed: 2022-02-23
Liked the female narrator. Found it weird to have a male narrator only for the one characters dialogue but if the narration had been good it would have been fine. This man is very monotone.
I'm almost seven hours in and honestly have to call it quits. Very slow story and absolutely no chemistry between the two main characters to the point that I decided it wasn't worth listening to another ten hours as I don't care if they got together or not. Six hours in and she's been calling him "Mr Rhodes" in both her outer and inner dialogue, which is giving him some very creepy teacher/older man vibes. Lots of air time to everyday tasks that don't add to the story in any way.

Tiring
Reviewed: 2019-04-29
Unfortunately, I found the main character to be rather pathetic with a very tiring inner monologue. She has the chance to tell the truth and change her situation way too many times and is extremely self deprecating and gullible. Not that much of a twisty ending as there are only so many characters.
Enjoyed the beginning but quickly became tired of the main character and her poor decisions, as well as the actions of certain characters that were disturbing. The first book by this author was better.

Great start ! All from the male's point of view and his inner monologue is entertaining. I was hooked at the beginning and the things he did kinda made sense in some weird way and you started rooting for him in some weird way.
Then he started being less entertaining - found myself rolling my eyes more or yelling at him to make a better decision. The ending was not satisfying but I guess you knew where it was going to go eventually.
Great narrator !

Halfway through and I am interested to see how it will finish. Wish there was stronger character development because right now I don't care about the individual characters stories but in general what will happen to the world. Fantastic performance though - the accents are really good ! #Audible1 Will finish listening but don't think I will get another book from this author.

Very interesting concept and found the majority of the book entertaining. Likable main character and you really cared what happened and how things turned out. However, I found the ending to be a bit of a cop out - felt silly in a way. Still, an interesting story of time travel. #Audible1

Super interesting concept for a story and while I found it entertaining I could not connect enough to the characters to care how anything turned out for them. Finished it and enjoyed the idea but it dragged in certain places, again, because I wasn't sure I cared what happened. #Audible1

Cool perspective

Very entertaining story from a cool perspective. Interesting and different characters - appreciated the amount of female voices. There was just enough science background to make it believable but not too much to be overwhelming. The first half is more intellectually interesting while the second half has more action; not sure how I feel about the ending but it made me think. Found myself yelling at some characters in certain scenarios but that is normal for this genre - someone always seems to do something stupid in order to further the plot. Enjoyed listening to the narrator and the different voices for the characters was believable. Would recommend. #Audible1

Entertaining story full of fun voices

Entertaining space story with an excellent narrator. Found myself wanting to listen more than normal and ended up finishing in 3 days. While I enjoyed this book I am not sure if I will purchase the next book in the series. To be clear, this can be a stand alone story and while there is clearly more that will happen next I didn't feel so connected to the characters that I absolutely need to know what happens next. Good amount of action and introspection and fun references. Loved the main character but again did not feel a strong enough connection to want to know what happens next. Glad I listened to this book though! #Audible1
