Story
Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals. They are hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines, all eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality. Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world, turning her back on the hunt’s promises of eternal glory after her family was murdered by a rival line. For years she's pushed away any thought of revenge against the man - now a god - responsible for their deaths.

Every 7 years, for 7 days, 9 Greek Gods are placed on earth in mortal bodies with limited access to their powers and are offered up to be killed by the descendants of Greek Heroes. This event is called the "Agon". If a mortal kills a god, they absorb that gods powers and immortality, but must participate in the Agon until they are killed themselves or the Agon ends.

Overall, I really enjoyed this. The story was sweet and I loved the characters. It gave me Cinder by Marissa Meyers Vibes.
Part of me wants to give this a 3.5 stars because of the predictability but.. unsure yet. Full review soon.

The Manipulator. I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me. I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The Shadow. I didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away. I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.

Unsure how to rate this
The only reason I even continued the first book was to find out what happened with her great-grandma and grandma. This storyline was far more enjoyable than Adeline's.

Story
Sasha has had it. She cannot bring herself to respond to another inane, “urgent” email or participate in the corporate employee joyfulness program. She hasn’t seen her friends in months. Sex? Seems like a lot of effort. Even cooking dinner takes far too much planning. Sasha has hit a wall. Armed with good intentions to drink kale smoothies, try yoga, and find peace, she heads to the seaside resort she loved as a child. But it’s the off season, the hotel is in a dilapidated shambles, and she has to share the beach with the only other occupant: a grumpy guy named Finn.

not sure how to feel about this
Reviewed: 2024-03-21
eh
I'm not sure how to feel about this. It definitely wasn't what I expected it to be.
It was like watching a movie about someone's life, watching them go through their daily tasks, except Sasha is on a mini vacation, and she kind of met a guy who she's slowly getting to know.
Honestly, it lacked romance but also it was very slow-burn, with HEA.
Overall it wasn't bad. Cute, but not for me.

This wasn't bad but not the best either. I wasn't into the instant love, the smut was boring, and the main characters' chemistry was just OK.
The story itself was interesting but nothing exciting happened... Well, I'll take that back, the ending twists were good. I mean I liked the concept, but I don't think it was executed the best.
Also, It could have been edited more.

4.5 stars, full Review on my blog!
yes yes yes!!
This was actually SO GOOD. This is my favorite book in the series so far. It flowed pretty well, the story was intriguing and didn't put me to sleep like the first two.
Also, the writing was 1000 times better, and you could definitely tell this was edited unlike the first two.
Wretched is also a broken fairy tale where the main character is the villain and loosely takes references from the Wizard of Oz. Kudos to the author for making the dark-haired morally grey character a woman! I love it!
I loved the two main characters, Eveline is a badass. She is enchantingly imperfect and remarkably unpredictable, she embodies a captivating blend of flaws and volatility. Unapologetically wicked, I relished the experience of getting to know her complex psyche.
And Nick, witnessing his unwavering moral compass grapple with the magnetic pull of attraction to Evelina, all while navigating the delicate balance between his duty as a Federal Agent, to uphold the law and his burgeoning feelings, was truly captivating. The banter exchanged between these two characters was flawlessly executed, bringing about gleeful smiles as he skillfully irked her, managing to get under her skin and right into her face.
Their romance was almost perfect and the progression and pacing was amazing.
Overall, it was action-packed, the smut was so good. Although I feel like it needed a little more character development but with how short this was it wasn't terrible. I definitely recommend this one!

I don't know how to rate this. Some parts felt rushed.
The overall story was just OK, slightly boring if I'm honest. Nothing particularly exciting happened until about 85% into it when Yas and Julian go to Egypt for the Lamp. Everything after this trip was entertaining, and that twist! I didn't see it coming and genuinely enjoyed it.
The ending is the only reason I'm even considering giving this more stars.
