Great and suspenseful listen
Reviewed: 2025-01-07
I really enjoyed this book. It was a stunning prolific horrendous and suspenseful story and I sincerely enjoyed the twists and turns involved in it. Great listen with so many unexpected endings.
It was well narrated and I was able to follow along the path.
That path however , was very long and too many non related descriptions. I enjoy the story telling of this author However, this is my second of his books and man they are torturously long and long winded.
This author describes the mug the person is holding the colour, shape, size. The coaster it sits on. Plus the colour and make of the table that has the mug and said coaster. Jesus never ending mundane stuff.
I like Kevin O’Briens mystery and suspense books but he could cut away 5-6 hours and nothing will be missed . Except the relentlessly boring droning on and on.
It would have been a 5 but my Goodness so many hours. I fast forward some entire minutes and caught up without a problem.
Be prepared to press the fast forward button a lot. Had it not been for the length of Kevin O’Briens book I would have recommended a CREDIT. However, I’m grateful that it was included in my Library. Thank you Audible Plus.

I really enjoyed this book. A wonderful thrilling story with lots of twist and turns and unexpected surprises. Diabolical twisted story.
It kept me wanting to continue to listen to the end. Brilliantly written and narrated.
My one complaint is the length of the book. I did have to fast forward some mundane descriptions . But in my opinion this book could have been condensed to 7-8 hours instead of 12.
However, once I fast forward a bit and didn’t miss much I got into the process.
In the end it was a great listen and I enjoyed the ending and the Epilogue.
Highly recommend. Thank you Audibles plus for including it in my library.

Hard to rate this book. It was good and kept me interested. Good story that kept you intrigued as to what was the killer.
Sometime a bit long winded. A lot of rethinking on the female charters part.
I don’t think I liked her very much. She’s was a bit cold. She probably mentioned her daughter’s name 2-3 times. Definitely not good mother material but all into her job. A bit disappointed by that.
A bit confusing at the end but the story progressed nicely with the narrator doing a wonderful job of it.
Good ending and good listen.

I really enjoyed this book. Well written and nicely narrated. It was suspenseful and had me captivated.
I had to fast forward a bit from all the police professionals bits. I found that part a little boring. Lots of descriptions, lots of how they profile etc ; but for someone who is all into that it may be ideal.
The story was good and kept me guessing till the end. I enjoyed it and the narrator was great as well. Kept me occupied through a snow storm. Thank you Audible Plus.

The narration was good in many parts but the men part was not the best.

This book was good Very interesting and I enjoyed the story and the diabolical twists and turns in it.
A very good plot. It was a bit slow at first a bit confusing with so many characters and kind of difficult to keep everyone in your thoughts.
However, it got much better as the story progressed and what a twisted ending. I did not see that coming. What an ending.!
Could have been a bit more clarity in the end if it had more time . A good conclusion but wished it did not all got wrapped up so abruptly and quickly.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'
