Terrible narration ruined the story
Reviewed: 2024-12-07
I powered through this audiobook because the story was interesting. The voice acting was terrible. The cadence was off making it hard to follow because the conversations didn’t follow a natural vocal pattern and the different tones and accents used to differentiate between characters were often shrill and hard on the ears. I’d read the paper copy of this book to enjoy the story though.

I really enjoyed how the book parallelled real life scenarios with true life lessons given to us by the Bible.

Story
Katie Singleton, a partner with the Elite Guardians Protection Agency, stumbles upon her next assignment quite by accident. Spotting blue lights at a familiar restaurant, she stops to investigate, only to discover that owner Daniel Matthews has become the target of someone who will go to any lengths to put him out of business. Daniel might be concerned, but he's not convinced that a bodyguard - and a female one at that - is necessary. A new attack and his niece's urgings are enough to make him reconsider.

Interesting story and plot lines, but the narrator was terrible
Reviewed: 2023-05-06
I am enjoying the plot line in the story arc. However, I couldn’t finish listening to the book because the narrator’s inconsistent cadence and lack of discernable voice differentiation made it very confusing and hard to follow.

Three great stories. Last narrator is hard to listen to.

I really enjoyed the first two stories in this set of Novellas. The last story was interesting, but I couldn’t finish it because the narrators voice was so grating, with a weird breathy whiny quality that I was unable to continue to listen to.

Incredibly informative and engaging

This book is excellent. The science behind what your mind is, how it differs from your physical brain, what thoughts are and what you can do to literally rewrite your thoughts and emotions has been a revelation. Understanding that thoughts are a physical object that we can manipulate to a cellular level and not just ethereal concepts has completely turned my understanding of trauma, ruminating thought patterns and habit formation on its ear. I am so grateful to have found this incredibly informative book that is packed full of actionable concepts and tangible, science based explanations.
