Story
Gregory and his wives fought honorably and hard to advance to the finals, where their last fight was against the Eternal Flame. With their rigorous training and communication, they managed to defeat the arrogant clan, letting them stand alongside their novice friends as champions. The excitement of being the champions wasn’t the happiest part of their year, though. That came after the tournament, when all five of their friends—Nessa, Daciana, Victoria, Clover, and Ling—joined Aether’s Guard.

Great set of books,

I am avidly waiting for the next book.
I have reading this series for some time now. I love the the author mixes different cultures and customs together with magic and topical ideas that need discussion. They are feel good stories with thoughtful clever ways to face our differences. I read a story about multiple persons in group marriage when I was in college in 1970. Since then wanted that to be real. These books make me feel like it really could be some day if only people could get over their fears.

I liked the easy read. This narrator has a pleasant voice and mild accent. My only complaint is that the rest of the series is not available in audio. There are a lot of us that can only listen.

Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, backpacking in Colorado wilderness or strolling through Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C., scientists are finding that immersions in nature can reduce anxiety, enhance creativity and boost overall well-being.

OK but not enough in depth.

Narrator seemed to pushing to sound really upbeat. Just as I thought we were getting to something the episode would abruptly end. I kept feeling cheated. The good stuff was out of reach.

In this book. Keeps you reading into the night. Could have added some more scientific info for greater depth of enjoyment to those of us who love that stuff. But was enough to let you know there is real science behind the fun. I enjoyed this book. How will we really react when first contact is no longer an if statement? How smart are the ones in power? Do we really trust our leaders to tell us what the truth?

Story
The last time Thread attacked Pern, the world was unprepared for the fight - until the Oldtimers appeared. These courageous dragonriders arrived from the past, traveling 400 years to help their descendants survive. But the collision of past and present took its toll. While most of the displaced rescuers adapted to their new reality, others could not abide the jarring change and found themselves in soul-crushing exile, where unhappiness and resentment seethed.

Great! A new perm and Dragon-rider story.

I read the Pern books every year or so. It’s great to see a new one. It is well written. But a bit wordy. The narration is good. But for me it could be better. The story fits well into the world of Pern.
