Story
On the treacherous streets of Riverside, a man lives and dies by the sword. Even the nobles on the Hill turn to duels to settle their disputes. Within this elite, dangerous world, Richard St. Vier is the undisputed master, as skilled as he is ruthless--until a death by the sword is met with outrage instead of awe, and the city discovers that the line between hero and villain can be altered in the blink of an eye.

I have read this book four times in the last three months and I can't give it enough praise. I find I hardly read books anymore because nobody writes the kinds of stories I want to read. I feel like this book was plucked directly from my mind as the ideal story that I want to read over and over and over again.
As a child who hated Disney Princesses for "not being realistic" and made games of political subterfuge and court dramas with my dolls this story struck every cord with me I thought possible.
beautifully, cleverly written with great humor and vibrant characters. Tons of twists, but ripe with foreshadowing. Best the first time you read it for the tension, and then even better the second time when you see how everything fits together.
Richard St Vier stole my heart, I am going to spend the rest of my life dreaming of him.
The author's performance as the narrator is amazing, she lends such an authentic voice to her characters. With the sound effects, music, and full voice cast I feel like I can picture each and every scene as vividly as watching a movie.
Seriously cannot recommend this book enough, it's got everything.
