Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

That’s all these religions do, hide abuse; tell the victims to be better, good, submissive, while lives are completely destroyed. I’m so glad these brothers came forward with their stories. These people need to be exposed. And this was horrific in the abuse they suffered at the hands of a terrible man, and their mother. So sad. So infuriating. Thank you for coming forward and telling the truth!!

Ok, I knew it was good, but didn’t realize just how good until I listened to it all. It was mostly unexpected. I really really liked this book. No, loved it! The narrator is great too, some of the repeat lines she says are weird the way she does but whatever. I don’t want to leave the book!!!! Love the characters.

Story
When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.
