The narrator did the best she could with such a poorly written story. The main character Eleanor is only 21 years old but, we are supposed to believe that she is all wise and all knowing and yet still makes horrible decisions.

Biblical inaccuracy The Lord’s Prayer is not Psalm 23
Reviewed: 2024-06-23
One character speaks often of quoting The Lord’s Prayer, when in fact it was Psalm 23. A glaring obvious error that should have been fixed before going to production. The error was too distracting for me to fully lose myself in the story.

I have read every book in the Nikki and Joseph series and was thrilled when this one came available. I was so disappointed, I would have abandoned listening but, since I paid with a credit, I listened to the end.
This story had far too many characters and too many plots and subplots to wade through and each with a lousy payoff.
Ellis was too busy trying to preach her views on the church - which barely hung together. I could go on but, I won’t.
I don’t recommend this novel at all, it’s too poorly written.

Story
Ever since I met my handsome husband Dr Gabe Bonneville, I started playing the role of the perfect housewife. He works hard as a surgeon, so I look after our home, and throw elaborate dinner parties with champagne cocktails for his best friends Hugh and Anita. He’s my safe place and my chance to have the family I’ve always wanted. I’ve managed to hide the mornings when I wake up and see a face in the shadows. I haven’t told Gabe the truth about the woman who raised me, or told him about the therapy I’ve been getting so my secrets stay hidden in the dark.

Imagine if you made one little mistake when you were young and were punished for it for the rest of your life. Well, that’s what happened to Lydia (yes, that Lydia, the youngest Bennet sister from Pride and Prejudice), and she’s here to set the record straight. Hold on to your teacups and get ready for sophisticated (and a little bit naughty) hot takes and witty banter that’ll make you laugh—and think. We meet Lydia just as she is denounced by her family, exiled miles from home, and married to the rogue George Wickham, who seems to love all women...except his own wife.
