A gripping tale of evil, survival & revenge

Kealan P. Burke has a wonderful knack for writing detailed character descriptions and scenes, which lay a bed of profound clarity to the reader/listener of the story unfolding. As the audiobook listener, I was quickly gripped by a curiosity about what will happen next.
Every graphic scene made sense to the story, and there is quite the story here. The Merrill clan (the Kin) have been habitually perpetrating hideous, inhumane crimes and getting away with them. However, the sole survivor of their most recent exploits, Clare, eventually plots her revenge with the help of an unlikely backwoods hero.
The narration by Chet Williamson is simply outstanding. His incredible range of unique voices is noteworthy in itself, and his voice acting skills are absolutely superb.

This was an entertaining story about an office romance that takes a while to amass, but you root for them to get together the whole way through. The narration is outstanding. And there's a hot little sex scene at the end.

Kealan P. Burke is a master of detail. I found the way he paints with his words to be strikingly imaginative & oft times dashed in hint of whimsy for good measure.
The narrator did a wonderful job of performing Burke's story of a young boy discovering the local pond's unsavory secrets. And in true fashion of Burke's genre, you will hold the disquiet of his vision in your head for a while.

As a fan of Vi & Penelope's novels, Dirty Letters did not disappoint. I loved the concept of two people as penpals as children being the premise of this story since I'd done the same when I was young.
When Griffin (narrator Jacob Morgan) and Luka's (narrator Andi Arndt) letters to each other suddenly stop, Griffin is upset and frustrated by the disconnect and always wondered why Luka stopped exchanging letters with him.
Many years pass and their adult lives take shape. Griffin in a drunken state decides to write Luka one more time to tell her how angry he was at losing his penpal. But there is a valid reason for why Luka stopped writing to Griffin. A traumatic event in her youth causes her to develop a severe panic disorder.
When Luka decides to reply to Griffin's recent letter they discover their young attraction to each other is still there. As their adoration grows through snail mail letters the story builds to show that his life and hers are so dramatically different that the likelihood of them being able to be together as a couple is improbable.
Luka's loveable therapist named Doc plays an integral part in how Griffin and Luka's relationship grows.
There are some truly touching moments and the story is well laid out. I found the middle of the book a bit slow, however, this is where the listener learns the true depth of Luka's condition and how willing Griffin is to understand her.
Dirty Letters is well worth the listen.

This was the first novel by L.J. Shen that I'd purchased in audiobook format. The first half of this audiobook wasn't as interesting as I'd hoped. Shen's style (in this novel) is heavy on descriptors, but her sense of humor made me laugh out loud quite a few times. It was this cheeky humor of Shen's that kept me going. The second half of the book really pulls the story together. I thought the twist at the end was brilliant. As for the narration, Jacob Morgan and Grace Grant do a great job of narrating this story.

Solid character portrayals and believable situations are the cornerstones to Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward's novels. The heat between Hollis & Elody was great, especially with the thong underwear situation - very sexy. A fun & well told story with serious notes that tugged at my heart. As always, Andi Arndt & Sabastian York knock it out of the park with their amazing narration.

Great story & expertly told by both narrators. Very satisfying ending as well. The humour was brilliant - a common thread in Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland’s stories.
