Gentle, healing story.

I loved the gentle kindness which was shown in the story. Most everyone, even if there were disputes, seemed understanding and kind. The story was simple but interesting. I like learning of the cultures portrayed. A simple but enjoyable listen. The readers were fantastic!

I loved that it was a delightful, fun love story.
It had plots and subplots which had their own intensity and excitement.
It was well written and well performed.
Having a Christmas theme made it even more enjoyable for me.

Story
Women rich and poor come to her, desperate and in dire need of help – and discretion. Dolly Merishaw is a midwife and an abortionist in Victorian Toronto, but although she keeps quiet about her clients’ condition, her contempt for them and her greed leaves every one of them resentful and angry. So it comes as no surprise to Detective William Murdoch when this malicious woman is murdered. What is a shock, though, is that a week later a young boy is found dead in Dolly’s squalid kitchen.

Reasons for Liking this Book on one of Detective Murdock’s Mysteries

I liked the plot. I have always enjoyed the television series and the book was just as enjoyable. The only thing I found unsettling was how long the murder took to be solved. I guess that makes sense because what took me hours to listen to, on tv the mystery would have been solved in an our. 😀!
I enjoyed the performance and reading of the novel. Fun!

Beautiful!

This book was wonderful! I appreciate so much the wholesome of the love story. The heroes and heroines were so very well portrayed. The plots and sub plots were so intense and so well written, and portrayed so very well.
The only thing that made me really sad was the death of Maxin’s mother. She had such a loving heart and was so gracious and kind. I am so glad Maxin was so very much like her!
This would make a beautiful “Hallmark” movie. By the way, I say this in all seriousness. I love the Hallmark movies. Thank you Kiera Cass for keeping this book so pure and lovely!

I gave it a rating of four because I don’t appreciate the subject of prostitution.

I liked the intrigue in this book. The overall story was good, although at times confusing. I sometimes found myself not understanding what was exactly happening at sometimes during story. I appreciated the sister’s love and devotion to her little brother.
The characters were well developed and easy to understand who they were and what their personalities were like. The performance was very well done!
An interesting twist at the end gave the book its intrigue.

Story
Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents host, carols play on repeat, her mother pretends she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors come ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Things are looking cheerier than ever, until Becky’s parents announce they’re moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch - unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocados - and ask Becky if she’ll host this year. What could possibly go wrong?

Story
Sophie Appersett is quite willing to marry outside of her class to ensure the survival of her family. But the darkly handsome Mr. Edward Sharpe is no run-of-the-mill London merchant. He's grim and silent. A man of little emotion - or perhaps no emotion at all. After two months of courtship, she's ready to put an end to things. But severing ties with her taciturn suitor isn't as straightforward as Sophie envisioned.

It was Nearly a Great Book

This is a hard book for me to review. It is very well written. Development of characters is superb. And the performance on my audio book was excellent.
The friendship between the two girls is beautiful. They are kind, understand each other perfectly and have a very close friendship. The twist at the end is very surprising.
Does the publisher demand a sex scene before publishing the novel because gratuitous sex doesn’t make a novel better, it just makes it porn for me.

This book was very well written and performed. The portrayal of the different characters was excellent with great description; and in the audio version different accents in their speech was very well done.
It was a great mystery with great plot and sub plots development. I love to solve the mysteries and the mysteries in this book were hard for me too figure out but this always makes it more intriguing and exciting for me.
It was a lovely love story but I must confess, there were a few times the description of the character’s times together were too graphic for my liking.
