Again a lovely book to sink into. I am so hoping Joyce becomes a social media influencer in his next book! These characters are so smart, so thoughtful, you can’t help but smile while you listen. A book that is funny and has no jokes.! Enjoy!

I just spent a few days in Paris. I read this book before arriving. My trip was enriched by my understanding of the history. I love learning history, but I am a lazy student. Reading a novel with entertaining characters is a wonderful way to learn AND remember.

you will love the characters in this novel! The conversations will make you laugh out loud. I didn’t stop smiling. At the same time some of the descriptions are heartbreaking.

Fantastic twists, wonderful dialogue, The characters are endearing. I cannot decide who my favorite is.

I highly recommend this novel and I am already looking forward to the next in the series.

I also recommend you listen to the conversation with the author after the book. Richard’s description of class conflict, even within families, really struck home.

This novel was a series of wonderful, rich, heartwarming stories. A fresh look at the early century in Moscow. It was refreshing having a different perspective on the rise of communism and the contributions of Russia to the west. I loved the relationship with Nina and the games that he played with Sophia, the relationships he developed because of his 'rules of civility'.
