About this listen

A Warhammer 40,000 Audio Anthology

It is the thirty-second millennium and the Imperium is at peace. The Traitor Legions of Chaos are but a distant memory and the many alien races that have long plagued mankind are held in check by the Space Marines.

But an ork invasion of unparalleled scale throws the Imperium into disarray. As worlds burn and renowned Space Marine Chapters are destroyed, can the Imperium pull together to defeat the Beast?

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

This audio collection kicks off Black Library's epic The Beast Arises saga. Discover what happens as, after centuries of peace, the Imperium is suddenly thrown into panic, human worlds everywhere are menaced by orks, and a huge new threat emerges.

THE STORIES

I Am Slaughter

When a mission to exterminate a xenos breed on the world of Ardamantua draws in more of their forces, the Imperial Fists abandon the walls of Terra for the first time in more than a thousand years. When another, greater, foe strikes, even the heroic sons of Rogal Dorn may be powerless against it. The Beast Arises… and it is mighty.

Written by Dan Abnett. Narrated by Gareth Armstrong.

Running time 5 hours and 23 minutes approx.

Predator, Prey

In a relentless tide of slaughter, ork attack moons destroy planet after planet with gravity weapons of unstoppable power. On Terra, the High Lords are paralysed by the scale of the threat, and fail to take any effective action. With entire Space Marine Chapters missing, or known to have been wiped out, does anyone have the will and the power to rise to the Imperium’s defence?

Written by Rob Sanders. Narrated by Gareth Armstrong.

Running time 6 hours and 27 minutes approx.

The Emperor Expects

As ork ships lay waste to world after world, heading inexorably towards Terra, Imperial citizens despair. The High Lords become desperate to prove that victory is possible, no matter the cost. A massive Navy fleet is assembled – their mission to make a definitive strike against the orks at Port Sanctus, an area of enemy-held space. But when the Imperial armada arrives, they find themselves outclassed and outmanoeuvred – can human courage and faith possibly prevail against such terrible odds?

Written by Gav Thorpe. Narrated by Gareth Armstrong.

Running time 5 hours and 31 minutes approx.

probably the worst series that GW has done for 40k

God did I have high hopes going into this after 300+ novels of 40k alone I'd like to think that when people are always saying "oh this is so bad" they're being extremely dramatic and always have been this is the first novel that I can say I actually hated. I'm half way through book 5 and custodes are getting cut down like they're white shield cadians or something by two harlequins time after time it takes what 40k has already made clear and throws it on its head multiple times not even the good authors are enough to save this dumpster fire its like someone's child at GW wrote a really really crapy fan fiction for how cool and awesome the orks are and begged his dad to make it a reality I'm really not looking forward to finishing the other 7 books in the series but I already bought them and can't not finish it. I'd highly highly highly recommend Saving your 4 credits for the 12 books and just go pick up 4 quality novels you'll have a much better time than I am currently

The Beast Doesn't Dissappoint!

Fantastic story! Easy enough to follow along for those new to the universe. Great narration, excellent and distinct voices. Good value with the 3 book bundle. Would recommend!
