About this listen

What if your ex-husband was an abusive, dirty cop, and he was convinced he would get you back someday? What if he was willing to do anything to make that happen? Do you think it would scare off your new boyfriend, a strong, hot firefighter? Not if he has secrets of his own....

Edge of the Heat follows four couples on their journey from disaster to happily ever after.

Following a near death experience, firefighter paramedic Emma Hill's world is turned upside down. Haunted by a vision of the man who could very well be her soul mate, Emma is desperate to find him, but fear stands in her way. With a maniacal ex-husband determined to get her back, Emma struggles to stay clear of him or risk living a life riddled by quiet desperation and abuse. Fighting with a dirty cop is dangerous enough, but when that dirty cop is her ex-husband, the stakes are raised to disastrous levels.

Craig Masterson, the firefighter who saved Emma's life, finds himself falling for her. When he learns who her ex-husband is, he realizes that this is a battle he may not win. Choosing to love her is a deadly game. If he can stay alive, their love may flourish, but only if he can defeat her ex.

The woman reading is awful

Almost zero differentiation between the different characters voices and narrating. Mostly her regular voice but when she does change it the types of voices used are very odd.

Character descriptions would be something like “a tall and brooding wall of a man with wide shoulders and made of muscle” but the voice she’ll use is shrill and whiny.

Engaging series.

I do a lot of travelling for work and although this added a little more intimacy than I’m used to it was a refreshing addition to a crime story.

the narrator was a bit breathy at times which was annoying...but overall good story. The story flowed with great plot twists...would read again

What an exciting, captivating, enjoyable set of books. The story blends beautiful, as you read.
I look forward to many more by Lisa Ladew

Exceptional book

I definitely would recommend this book. The narration was excellent and the story itself was exceptional. Love hoe every aspect of the story was given. it's like I was apert of the story. I'm definitely going to look for other stories by this author and ones narrated by Ms West

Good Story but not really about hot firefighters

This was a great box set and I did enjoy listening to it. The narrator was really good except you could hear every time she breathed in and I found that annoying. Of the seven books in the series there was barely anything about sexy hot firefighters except in the first book. It was more a jumble of police, fire, rescue, paramedics, military and spies. Either way I still enjoyed it and would recommend it. Just be aware that the description of the series is not completely what it says

not great

the storyline is "ok" but not great.
I couldn't stand Emma, she's whiny, constantly crying over one thing or another and asking out Craigs friend basically in front of him? come on.
narration was ok but again, not great, there wasn't much differentiation between characters.
I couldn't get through this entire series, it was too cringy

Stupid character, poor storyline, bad writing

I was intrigued at first, but the endless descriptions, useless details and stupid characters (like seriously they can't even think and walk at the same time?!) made that book just bad. How come someone accepted to publish 7 books like that!

Hard to Get Through

The stories were not plausible and not sufficiently researched...if they were, it might have made up for the stilted, awkward romantic scenes throughout. The worst part was the narrator and her tone as though reading to kindergarten children. Very disappointed.

not what i thought

this set starts out pretty interesting and intermittently slides down into cringy harlequinesk ugh! then back to the story. Im partially through book 2 and i cant see how this is going to make it to 7 books. the characters dont have alot of depth, she goes from not wanting to date or see men to ( harlequin scene ) practically throwing herself into a cringy awkward love scene. I might not make it to the end....
