Free-spirited and easygoing Taylor Vandenberg left her hometown of Faircombe, Tennessee, as soon as she could, and in the twenty-five years since, she has rarely looked back. She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Very few things can hold her attention back in Faircombe: her sister/best friend, her precocious niece, and perhaps the prospect of riling up Brooke Watson.
Brooke has known Taylor for her entire life, given that her best friend is Taylor's younger brother. And a lifelong knowledge of Taylor means that Brooke knows she's trouble: irresponsible, takes nothing seriously, and irritatingly attractive. Unlike Taylor, Brooke loves their town so much that she's spent her adult life dedicated to making sure it doesn't get swept away like many of the other declining small cities of the American South. Faircombe means the world to her, and she's willing to do just about anything to make sure it flourishes.
Even if it means working with Taylor, whose path seems to continuously be crossing with Brooke's everywhere she turns....

She did it again!
Haley Cass is my unexpected (and early) 2023 christmas gift! The stories she creates are wonderful, and "In the long run" is my favorite so far.
Do yourself a favor and listen or read one of her books (or, more likely once you get started, all of them!)

Another Gem
Haley Cass has quickly become a favourite author of mine, her skillful character building has you feeling like you know them personally. You feel deeply for both Taylor and Brooke as they are relatably complicated like everyday people. I find myself getting lost in her books in the best way possible never wanting them to end. Already looking forward to her next release.

An ok story, but this author has written better
This was a fine story, but I had trouble connecting to the characters, and really felt like some of their decisions were a bit uncharacteristic. A tad bit disappointing as I’ve loved the author’s other two books.
