About this listen
A young man descends into purgatory to save his wife and unborn child in this tale of wonder and terror from the mind of master storyteller and acclaimed artist Brom.
Fresh out of jail and eager to start a new life, Chet Moran and his pregnant wife, Trish, leave town to begin again. But an ancient evil is looming, and what seems like a safe haven may not be all it appears.
Snared and murdered by a vile, arcane horror, Chet quickly learns that pain and death are not unique to the living. Now the lives and very souls of his wife and unborn child are at stake. To save them, he must journey into the bowels of purgatory in search of a sacred key promised to restore the natural order of life and death. Alone, confused, and damned, Chet steels himself against the unfathomable terrors awaiting him as he descends into death's stygian blackness.
With Lost Gods, Brom's gritty and visceral prose takes us on a haunting, harrowing journey into the depths of the underworld. Thrust into a realm of madness and chaos, where ancient gods and demons battle over the dead and where cabals of souls conspire to overthrow their masters, Chet plays a dangerous game, risking eternal damnation to save his family.

Story
One Christmas Eve in a small hollow in Boone County, West Virginia, struggling songwriter Jesse Walker witnesses a strange spectacle: seven devilish figures chasing a man in a red suit toward a sleigh and eight reindeer. When the reindeer leap skyward, taking the sleigh, devil men, and Santa into the clouds, screams follow. Moments later, a large sack plummets back to earth, a magical sack that thrusts the down-on-his-luck singer into the clutches of the terrifying Yule Lord, Krampus.

Story
Ana and Reid needed a lucky break. The horrifically complicated birth of their first child has left Ana paralyzed, bitter, and struggling: with mobility, with her relationship with Reid, with resentment for her baby. That's about to change with the words any New Yorker would love to hear—affordable housing lottery. They've won an apartment in the Deptford, one of Manhattan's most revered buildings. Reid dismisses disturbing events and Ana’s deep unease and paranoia as the price of living in New York—people are odd—but he can't explain the needle-like bite marks on the baby.

Story
From electrifying horror author Nick Cutter comes a haunting new novel, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian and Stephen King's It, in which a trio of mismatched mercenaries is hired by a young woman for a deceptively simple task: check in on her nephew, who may have been taken against his will to a remote New Mexico backwoods settlement called Little Heaven. Shortly after they arrive, things begin to turn ominous.

In the lands of Bethel, where the Prophet's word is law, Immanuelle Moore's very existence is blasphemy. Her mother's union with an outsider of a different race cast her once-proud family into disgrace, so Immanuelle does her best to worship the Father, follow Holy Protocol, and lead a life of submission, devotion, and absolute conformity, like all the other women in the settlement. But a mishap lures her into the forbidden Darkwood surrounding Bethel, where the first prophet once chased and killed four powerful witches.

It’s the house of their dreams. Former marine Harry and his wife, Sasha, have packed up their life and their golden retriever, Dash, and fled the corporate rat race to live off the land in rural Idaho. Their breathtaking new home sits on more than forty acres of meadow, aspen trees, and pine forest in the Teton Valley. Even if their friends and family think it’s a strange choice for an up-and-coming pair of urban professionals, Harry and Sasha couldn’t be happier about the future they’re building, all by their lonesome.

Interesting take on afterlife.
This is an intriguing story, although I believe a deeper insight into the main characters would have made Lost Gods all the more captivating. It has its gruesome moments, but nothing to scare away hard-core listeners of this type of novel. All in all, Brom did a good job of keeping me interested in his imagined afterlife and the struggles within. Of course, R.C. Bray performed with his usual brilliance.

Incredible
Brom is my new favourite author and this has to be his masterpiece(so far).
He weaves a world that is both terrifying and oddly tempting; my imagination is reignited and while the story line and conclusion were satisfying I am left craving more and can only dream that he expands on this world and its characters one day.

Absolutely Outstanding
I was completely gripped with this story from the very beginning. I truly have not read (listened to) such an amazing story in many years. The narrator’s ability to bring life into each character was instrumental to the flow of story.
I couldn’t express the extreme amount of praise that the author and narrator both deserve in the creation of this piece of work.
Bravo to each involved in developing this wonderful audiobook.
I Will definitely be recommending this book/audiobook to everyone.
Thank you so much Audible for recommending this book to me.
I’m thoroughly impressed. Except that now that I’ve finished, I am sad that it had to end at all.
Wonderful experience overall.
Definitely a Ten Star ⭐️ rating. Way beyond what the limited number of stars available to give for the wonderful experience of listening to this book.

Absolutely Phenomenal
I came upon Lost God's after listening to Brom's Slewfoot. I didn't think anything could top that, but wow! I was so enthralled in this audiobook I was so disappointed when I had to pause to do anything at all. I was constantly thinking of this story and it's characters whenever I couldn't listen. The story itself was incredible, but RC Brays narration brought this book to life. I only finished it a moment ago but I know I'm going to have a massive book hangover from this one and I'm not sure how I'll be able to find anything that makes me feel the way this one made feel!
