Thoughtful Look into the Past
Revisado: 12-10-23
The burden of the guilt of lying for Nico Krispis is a deeper look into such a dark time in the world. During that time period the world was wrapped with the lies of individuals and entire governments. Such human tragedy is hard to imagine and this story helps us understand it should never happen again in any form and to any group of people.

Heartbreaking Face of Evil
Revisado: 06-19-23
Greed that compelled these evil people is incomprehensible, yet it existed and always has. This story is important in its attempt to correct the truth about these evil events. The narration did not stop me from crying at points or feeling hope for some recovery for the survivors of the Osage murders. Thank you to the author and narrators.

Historia
Hated and hailed, excoriated and revered, Abraham Lincoln was at the pinnacle of American power when secessionists gave no quarter in a clash of visions bound up with money, race, identity, and faith. In him we can see the possibilities of the presidency as well as its limitations. This book tells the story of Lincoln from his birth on the Kentucky frontier to his leadership during the Civil War to his tragic assassination: his rise, his self-education, his loves, his bouts of depression, his political failures, his deepening faith, and his persistent conviction that slavery must end.

Historia
Pigeonholed in popular memory as a Jazz Age epicurean, a playboy, and an emblem of the Lost Generation, F. Scott Fitzgerald was at heart a moralist struck by the nation's shifting mood and manners after World War I. In Paradise Lost, David Brown contends that Fitzgerald's deepest allegiances were to a fading antebellum world he associated with his father's Chesapeake Bay roots. Yet as a midwesterner, an Irish Catholic, and a perpetually in-debt author, he felt like an outsider in the haute bourgeoisie haunts.

Engaging reading about a great talent that became lost before he really began. After reading this biography, I understand Jay Gatsby even more and pity him even more.

When the Twin Towers fell on 9/11, Welles Crowther's parents had no idea what happened to him. In the unbearable days that followed, they came to accept that he would never come home. Wildly Fantastical and Magical
Revisado: 10-07-21
For the most part I was entranced by the magical fantasies of this book. I will say I did get lost in some of the sideway paths the author took in order for Arthur to discover the lessons he needed. When in the moments of Camelot I felt the intensity of the characters and loved, ached, and cried when they did.

Awesome
Revisado: 08-19-20
This book explores the Space Race and space exploration far beyond what we have been capable. Historic events of success and failure have been woven together with future dreams of humans reaching outside of our own solar system. It is humbling to think about the dedication of those past and present to bring these dreams alive. The book is an awesome way to renew hope for humanity.
