Historia
Detective Inspector Costello has resigned. No notice, no good-byes. Convinced that George Haggerty murdered his wife and son despite his cast-iron alibi, Costello has gone solo, determined to expose a ruthless killer without being hampered by police protocol. But is she right about Haggerty's guilt? And where has she disappeared to? DCI Colin Anderson has no time to ponder the loss of his partner of 20 years. With a badly beaten body found on a remote mountain pass, a woman with a serious head wound who won't communicate in any way and a substantial pool of blood discovered at the edge of Loch Lomond, Police Scotland have their hands full.

Kept me on the edge for the entire story
Revisado: 05-01-19
As always the narration was Flawless and gave better insight to the characters in the story. I was enthralled from the first sentence. I couldn’t wait to hear what happened to George from the first book Sufferings of Strangers. You must read it first. I will think ofAbigail and Malcolm anytime I hear CLAP CLAP

Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

great, but not for the story
Revisado: 08-01-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I might. I can NOT stay awake long enough to hear more than 20 min at a time.
What does Reese Witherspoon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I love, love Reese Witherspoons reading. Her voice is melodic, I love the life and different voices she brings to the characters. I hope she reads more books on Audible.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I have a reaction all right. I loved to kill a mockingbird. I taught it to students and have read it many times. I feel like it is one of the BEST pieces of literature available. This book however puts me to sleep. In fact, I use it purposefully every night to allow myself to fall asleep. I really don't know what it is.
Any additional comments?
Perhaps it is the melodic tone of Ms. Witherspoons voice, or perhaps familiarity with the characters, but I can to stay awake while listening to this book. I really don't know what it is. I have always had issues falling asleep and this book allows me to focus on the voice and the characters long enough to forget my own thoughts. It woks like a charm. I know this will be a disrespectful review, but I thought I should be honest. It was worth my credits to get it for it has done what I can not do on my own and for that I am truly grateful. But I can not even tell you the basic premise of the story. I know, its terrible of me.

Historia
1838: James and Sadie Goodenough have settled where their wagon got stuck - in the muddy, stagnant swamps of northwest Ohio. They and their five children work relentlessly to tame their patch of land, buying saplings from a local tree man known as John Appleseed so they can cultivate the 50 apple trees required to stake their claim on the property. But the orchard they plant sows the seeds of a long battle. James loves the apples, reminders of an easier life back in Connecticut; while Sadie prefers the applejack they make, an alcoholic refuge from brutal frontier life.

Historia
Anyone who saw an episode of Saturday Night Live between 1999 and 2006 knows Rachel Dratch. She was hilarious! So what happened to her? After a misbegotten part as Jenna on the pilot of 30 Rock, Dratch was only getting offered roles as "Lesbians. Secretaries. Sometimes secretaries who are lesbians." Her career at a low point, Dratch suddenly had time for yoga, dog- sitting, learning Spanish - and dating. After all, what did a forty-something single woman living in New York have to lose?

Moved by a particularly inspirational tweet one day, Ali Wentworth resolves to live by the pithy maxims she discovers in her feeds. What begins as a sort of self-help project quickly turns into something far grander - and increasingly funnier - as the tweets she once viewed with irony become filled with increasing metaphysical importance. And thus begins her "Unhappiness Project".

Historia
Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack of quotidian minutiae is a letter addressed to Harold in a shaky scrawl from a woman he hasn’t seen or heard from in twenty years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye.

Great story of loves perseverance!
Revisado: 11-03-15
The story builds a tad slow but is so intriguing. I found myself cheering for Harold and egging him on to finish his walk. The cast of characters Harold meets and the human interaction that happens between them is a story within a story. great listen!
