Historia
In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

What did you like best about American Kingpin? What did you like least?
If this was a fiction work, it could be entertaining. Nevertheless, we are talking about a real case and a real person, prosecuted and currently in jail. The author writes in some chapters as if he was inside the person’s mind. After finding this was a bit weird, I did some research and realized that the author never talked with the accused person nor with his close family, and that he has been confronted with this question before. In his answer, he insists that he presents “both sides” only because there are certain chapters that are written from the enforcement agencies’ perspective and others supposedly from the accused person’s one. Nevertheless, the narrative that is presented to us claims as facts things that are not proven, It does not represent the court case fairly, which is an important element of the story, and therefore in my personal opinion it lacks the objectivity that a case that was in appeal needed to be dealt with. Maybe we need to wait for a book to be written by the protagonist himself, to really have a full picture. On another note, the short multiple chapters are very distractive and make me think of a story for kids, not a non-fiction book for adults.
Would you ever listen to anything by Nick Bilton again?
No, I don't think so.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes.
Did American Kingpin inspire you to do anything?
Study the subject by myself.

Historia
In late 2010, thousands of hacktivists joined a mass digital assault by Anonymous on the websites of VISA, MasterCard, and PayPal to protest their treatment of WikiLeaks. Splinter groups then infiltrated the networks of totalitarian governments in Libya and Tunisia, and an elite team of six people calling themselves LulzSec attacked the FBI, CIA, and Sony. They were flippant and taunting, grabbed headlines, and amassed more than a quarter of a million Twitter followers.

Informative and very well narrated
Revisado: 07-29-17
If you want to know more about this social concept and important movement, this book will give you relevant and detailed information about the network and ops organic organization. All though sometimes you can get a bit lost in the sea of nicknames and IRC chatrooms in the overall it serves the purpose. Great narrator, even though some of the voices are very different to the real voices of the characters, probably their on line personas would sound more like her impersonation, which makes it very interesting and entertaining.
