This book took me a minute to get into, but it truly is delightfully written. The author and the reader made the perfect duet here. I laughed out loud so many times. What a unique and interesting story!

Amazing / Captivating
Revisado: 06-05-23
This realm is built methodically and imaginatively. The characters are crisp, heroic and relatable. This author reading her own story lends an even better air to it. I can’t wait to continue this story in book two.

Historia
The world-that-was is gone, lost to everything except living memory . . . but remembering comes at a terrible price. Sixty-two years after the apocalypse, a new society has emerged from the ashes of the old world where highly valued memories are traded and nostalgia is worth dying—and even killing—for. Enslaved by a cruel master, Sephone Winter is forced to use her rare ability to manipulate memories to numb the darkest secrets of the ruling aristocracy.

Oh My! What a series opener!
Revisado: 02-10-23
This book is really great and the narrator is fabulous. To say I can’t wait for the next book is more than an understatement. Characters are complex, the setting quite unique, the intrigue and unfolding of this story were so calculated I actually immediately listened to this once more! It was even better the second time. I know without a doubt I will want to listen to this one again and am almost counting down to the next installment. Well done to both Author and Narrator!

I personally could hardly wait for this series to all be out on audio. It didn’t disappoint. The author has such a flair for describing that you will literally be able to smell, taste, and so much more! This story is riveting and the characters are literally from all dimensions of life. The audio version makes these books come alive. Can’t wait to read more from this author!

Such an amazing story!
Revisado: 11-08-22
This story is captivating. I was completely hooked from start to finish. I’m super grateful to have had the audible version as I was driving so much but really wanted to know more of the story. The era this encompasses is so filled with tension and the lives, though a fiction work based on reality, are so authentically real. From the inhumane to to the most gracious soul, you get a real feel for who these people are because of and in spite of their circumstances. There is so much beauty in this story that I was often at the point of tears. I LOVED that though the characters each faced harrowing circumstances -they remained true to themselves and to God. Their character shines through even in the darkest moments. I find there is much more to contemplate about this story, but it is totally worth your time.

It's a radical, provocative idea: We're not entitled to get offended or stay angry. The idea of our own "righteous anger" is a myth. It is the number-one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it.

Revisado: 04-20-21
Having listened to Brant over the years on the radio and on the internet, I just happened upon this book by him, and ....Wow! Well said Brant. I know the exact timing of this book reaching my ears is completely Providential. This IS what REAL Christianity looks like. I am challenged and I am blessed for listening to this audiobook. The content was on target, thought provoking, the narration was perfect because he was able to infer the exact feeling as it was written to be read, and the general quirkiness of it all adds a charm to what is really a deeply important subject. I will be listening to this one again and recommending it too.
