Historia
Oliver Burkeman explores why people are often more successful - as are organisations, armies and governments - when they focus on reasons they are likely to fail; asks where happiness comes from, and whether we look for it in the wrong places; explores a phenomenon that has come to be called 'fungineering' – attempts to boost happiness in the workplace; and confronts what many of us see as the most negative of all experiences: death.

I saw this title and knew it was for me.
I love to daydream of how wonderful it is going to be when… but the nothing happens. I don’t have a need to do the activity because I’ve already felt good. The book nails how that is going on in your head.
Less anyone be concerned: the book does not belittle you or scare you into behaving. Rather it addresses how useful negative emotions can be. In my case for example, I don’t do my taxes until I tell myself how terrified I’m going to be if the government comes and gets me. It works every time!
This book is short because it is amazingly unfluffy. I highly recommend it.
One caveat: a small portion of the audiobook has the actual speakers tell their stories. I couldn’t understand what is either an Irish, Scottish, or Welsh accent very well.

Historia
The Moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women. Essun has inherited the power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter Nassun and forge a world in which every orogene child can grow up safe. For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world, and accepted what her mother will not admit: That sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

I kind of the end of the book and because I’m going to miss him so much
Revisado: 09-08-21
This is a wonderful story. Very rich on so many levels. Lots of fully developed characters that you come to know very well.
While fully encompassing many points of view, it is a very moral story. There is good science and magic! It has incredibly interesting ideas.
I wanted it to end, and I didn’t want it to end.
You will not be disappointed!

Historia
Author Shahroo Izadi presents a new approach to losing weight - without ever telling you what or how to eat. In The Last Diet., she shares how the same evidence-based tools she used effectively with her clients who struggle with addiction helped her to lose over 100 pounds, increase her self-esteem, and transform her habits around food and negative self-talk. Diets often offer quick, short-term fixes and so-called miracle cures, but the real challenge is managing weight and changing habits over a sustained period of time.

Revisado: 01-21-20
Very interesting and very well structured.
This book gives a lot of insight into what being a hypnotist is like. It does not really tell you how to decide if it’s the right profession for you — unless you’re someone who doesn’t want to love others.

Historia
Why are people gaining weight faster than ever before? According to Alan Christianson, NMD, our bodies are under attack from all directions - an overabundance of processed food, a polluted world, and the pressures of daily life all take their toll. These attacks hit a little known but very important set of glands, the adrenals, particularly hard. One of the many jobs of the adrenals is to maintain a normal cortisol rhythm.

Thorough and specific nutrition information plus fitting with circadian rhythm
Revisado: 01-04-20
Very useful book. Gives lots of insight as to how our nutrition works with circadian rhythm plus exercise information.
Clearly written, and actionable. Occasional repetitions as if sections are meant to be read independently.
I especially like the pacing of the book and how he speaks about pacing your life. This is not “you got to be a dynamo!” and “work out 100 hours a week!” and “climb that mountain!”, etc.
Very doable. In just one weeks time, I have noticed great improvements in my energy and alertness, and I’ve lost a little weight.

Amazing book. An explanation of joy that is intellectual magical at the same time
Revisado: 08-25-19
Where has this book been all my life?
I am someone who tends to live in her head, but I also relish joy, magic, and whimsy. I just don’t “understand” them, and so I fail to include them in my life the way I would like to.
This book has opened some big doors for me.
Decorator note: If you’re trying to sell your house, you should probably stick with grays and off-whites. But if you want to live in your house, read this book.

When it comes to health, there is one criminally overlooked element: sleep. Good sleep helps you shed fat for good, stave off disease, stay productive, and improve virtually every function of your mind and body. That's what Shawn Stevenson learned when a degenerative bone disease crushed his dream of becoming a professional athlete. Like many of us, he gave up on his health and his body...until he decided there must be a better way.

Revisado: 07-09-19
I have read a lot of the books on personal growth and health and bio-hacking. This book is one of the best that I have read. He explains things thoroughly, tells me what to do, and anticipates all my questions.
This book is centered on getting a good night’s sleep — which is so important — but it has much, much more than that. Read it — you will be glad you did.

Historia
During her multi-book investigation into understanding human nature, Gretchen Rubin realized that by asking the seemingly dry question “How do I respond to expectations?” we gain explosive self-knowledge. She discovered that based on their answer, people fit into Four Tendencies: Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels. Our Tendency shapes every aspect of our behavior, so using this framework allows us to make better decisions, meet deadlines, suffer less stress, and engage more effectively.

Great insights into what makes people tick
Revisado: 03-19-19
There are a lot of different ways to analyze people to understand them. This is a new one on me and very, very useful. It doesn’t replace other frameworks, but it does add a new way to get along with others and yourself.
